I wish I did but I do not. The closest thing I have are some aerial shots of Boylston taken from on top of the Windmill that stood just south of the depot. I then have another shot from up on the hill behind the bunkhouse looking northwest towards the front of the depot.
This really was the only way I could figure out how the buildings were placed in relation to one another. I wonder if a map like that still exists somewhere out there. The closest thing I've seen so far is an old map of the ROW but it does not show the location of the depot, it only shows the words 'depot'.

I'll either get a diagram going here for you or maybe you'll take an aerial shot of my model soon.

Hemi- I picked up an Olympus E-volt 500 kit with two different lenses. It came as a package this way so I thought it would be a nice set to begin with. I really like it so far.

I wonder if the Kittitas County assessor would have any maps?

    Keep 'em coming!

So...finally getting back into the routine of things. I expect good weather within the next week and hope to take the Boylston model outside for some good photo opportunites. It is finished!

Okay, so here are two pics of the diorama. These do not have any background images and were taken in my back yard.

OK- So I'm prejudiced here. This is another award winner! WOW is too weak a descriptive! :shade:

Are you going to display Boylston publicly? Anywhere? People need to see this work!

What color did you use on your trolley and power poles? I debated that, when I painted a few. Tried a darker color for my creosoted stubs. Played with a lighter color for the weathered poles. But just was not pleased with results.

Wow this is great work as usual Greg. Your work looks like the real thing, it is hard to tell the difference from a photograph.
    Great work.

    Cool!

Can you tell us a little about how you're building those individual trusses?

    Rob,

I was thinking how bad I wanted to run some trains when I saw the club layout at the Puyallup fair grounds this year. Is there a way I could come down and run some trains for a little while?

About construction: The trusses you see before you are the parts of the west end of the bridge. There are a total of 10 different measurements that make up this bridge. I have the actual measurements for each part of the bridge and have been building my model close to actual measurements. For example, the each deck truss you see in that photo represent 156 feet, but in scale length that are actually about 131 feet. I need to build a total of seven deck trusses at this length. I am shorting them in length just a little due to space restrictions. However, it is still going to be large.

I made an outline or stencil of this section and have been cutting pieces according to it. This method has worked quite well in getting each truss pretty darn close to the same size and shape as all the others. I could cut according to the measurement of each piece but using the stencil allows me to move more quickly without hindering the overall look of the model. Also of note, all of the Deck Trusses you see before you are being made piece by piece from parts made by Plastruct. For the through truss I plan on using a Kato truss bridge as a base to work with. It is going to be modified quite a bit to make it look like the one found the Columbia.

Will anyone be taking a camera? Running some Milw equipment? Can we see some pictures of the action?
