Welcome back everyone. Is it just me or was Friday just a few hours ago? Let's see how we all did this Mother's Day weekend.

Saturday: With it getting light earlier the dogs are up earlier so the day started at 6:20am. Coffee was brewed and enjoyed while I enjoyed some train related YouTube videos. This would be the extent of my model railroading endeavors this weekend. Then I was off to change the oil in the family station wagon. About 10:00am, Angela's dad showed up to help with the main task at hand, swapping the OEM soft saddle bags with fiberglass versions. Things went well until we got to the last two stubborn bolts. Isn't that the way every project goes? Long story short we spent an entire day and never made any headway. By 6:00pm and a waisted day, we through in the towel and put on the OEM equipment.

Sunday: You probably realized by Friday's thread that I completely forgot that Sunday was Mother's Day. Having placed my reservations at Chateau de Doghouse and completely forgetting about the holiday, knowing full well that the local florist and even Amazon could not save me, I determined to spend the day with Angela. We spent the day antiquing and driving through the country then having a late lunch, early dinner before latter enjoying some ice cream. Turns out I did alright so the reservations at Chateau de Doghouse were cancelled and I was in the clear. Unfortunately, I did nothing I original set out to do. Hopefully I can work on the module after work this week as that date is looming over me.

So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Did you do better than me and remember the holiday Sunday? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday, the 19th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe and as always...

Morning all and Jim, you are right, Friday does feel like it was just hours ago. The weekend didn't quite go as planned but I did get a little train time in. Painters worked through the weekend and finished up about 7 last night. That of course put the brakes on going out anywhere or cooking. Ended up placing a to go order and picking that up. Saturday got consumed with errands and honey do's uncovered during moving things for the painters. All that's left is for them to come back and paint the deck in a couple of weeks. Some of the pressure treated lumber still looked green or wet so we decided it should be allowed to dry out a little before painting it. I still have furniture to rearrange as the week goes on.
I did finally finish up the pipe car I had been working on. Tried some trouble shooting on some Rapido coal hoppers with no real success. Ran a couple of trains, drank a lot of coffee and watch a few videos as time permitted. That's about it.

Hope you all have a great week!

Well my daughter’s softball double header was canceled due to rain so I spent Saturday working on the Lake County (IL) Sheriff Dept’s cars (x3) and a county coroner’s van. I painted and detailed. Decals will come over the next few days maybe.

Not pictured, I faded four(!) carbon black hoppers with the airbrush. Still need some more weathering, but happy so far.

Sunday was Mother’s Day-so we spent some time at breakfast and the mall together as a family and then hung out at home together as well.

All in all a pretty good weekend.

Friday, as expected, I met another contractor for a bid insulating the crawlspace of the Sebring Model Railroad Club. This one is quoting spray foam. He said we'd probably get a quote by Friday evening, but that didn't happen. Foam is probably the best solution for us but its way out of our price range. While I was there, another member, Lynn Goldrick, and I started painting the base color (nicknamed Ohio River brown) on our port facility so that the track guys can get started. He started brushing from one end, and I started airbrushing from the other. I like the texture of the airbrushing better, but I'll need to mix larger batches of paint for consistency. [IMG][IMG]

Saturday, we had a family get-together for Mother's Day at our daughter's house. Her husband's smoked brisket is awesome.

Sunday was church, and then our daughter came over while her husband went fishing. So, we drove out to see my Mom (age 93) for Mother's Day and took her out to lunch and ice cream. In the evening, I mostly finished packing for my trip to Israel.

So far, I've got about 100 pages of my reading assignment (300 pages or so) done that's supposed to be done before our arrival in Tel Aviv. But I've got the better part of a day and a half in airplanes and airports to finish.

I'll leave for the airport in a couple of hours, and after that, I probably won't have much train related until I get back in two weeks.

Over the weekend I got the first coat of paint on the Moloco RBL I have been working on.

I managed to complete an IMRC ACF 4650 cf covered hopper kit now all it needs is paint and decals.

On Friday I attached the detail parts to the two Atlas C-420’s I recently purchased and took them to the club where they performed flawlessly.

Saturday evening went out to dinner with my wife for a mini Mother’s Day celebration as the we will be celebrating that and my son’s birthday next Friday at my nieces restaurant.

Started on another 60’ Auto Parts boxcar by changing the wheelbase and installing Moloco ACF coupler pockets and started to remove the rivets from the car sides.

Hello everyone, hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

Had nicest weather so far this year here and I ended up doing lots of yard work but get in some time on some hobby projects too.

The burned-out Budweiser sign got replaced with the new Hamm's sign on my Ntrak module.

And made some progress installing the HUMVEE's with their hold down chains to the flatcars.

Have a great week and see you all next Friday.

Da Mooses had an enjoyable few days related to the NMRA regional convention, Prairie Line Experience, in Tacoma, WA. Yeah!
    :)

Managed to take two long all-day drives in the wee convertible, enjoying the nice sunny weather, while traveling to various layout tours.

OMG! First time da Mooses had ever visited other MRR's home layouts. Moose jaws hit floor with overwhelming excitement and awe!
    :D

Every one of the layouts had some very interesting features. An unexpected experience was visiting Mike O'Connell's humongous and impressive O-scale layout -- was like walking through a museum. Words fail Moose...

Was even invited to sign up for future operations sessions -- Moose has never been part of one, so that will be something to look forward to ... with no small amount of fear!

Whew! Glad the doghouse thing blew over. The Austria "spy" trip. I hate working on coal cars with no real success. Cheese it! The cops! "Ohio River brown", cool. Covered hopper.... ;) Hold-down chains look great! (y) Convention = massive train show. :p Plus future ops sessions. Looks like folks had great Mother's Day celebrations. Treasured times. So far, I still need to put wheels on locomotive frames. I have also just begun planning appliances for the tops of boilers. Saturday, I visited the local mall model railroad club. :) I am hoping better progress can be made this week. We shall see. :cautious: Everyone have a great week. :D

The last four or five days have been a rollercoaster. My wife has been having issues with her allergies for a while now. Things kept building and she had a problem with them on Sunday which resulted in canceled Mothers’ Day plans. Yesterday she was scheduled to have surgery to address her bleeding issue, but it did not go as planned. When she awoke and got ready everything seemed under control. She had a minor flare up before we left the house, but it was nothing more than what she usually gets, and it quickly subsided. As we drove to the hospital another episode started and by the time, we arrived she was in a full-blown attack. We checked in and they took her back to the prep room. Once there, seeing how she was breathing they canceled the surgery and sent her to the emergency room. In the ER they took blood and X-rays. They gave her IV Benadryl and steroids. After several hours things finally calmed down to the point where she could go home. She is now on steroids for the next ten days and sees her allergist in a week.

Somehow through the chaos I was able to add a decoder my NYO&W Stewart F3A and add number decals to it. The unit only has numbers on the number boards and at the bottom rear side. The numbers on the shell are the same side as the “F” for front and a real pain to get into place because each numeral is a separate decal. Last night I began preparing the F3B unit for decals. The B-unit only has the “F” and the tiny numbers on the rear of the shell. The B-units use the A-unit number with a “B” added. I also installed the decoder in the NYO&W Stewart FTA unit and started getting it ready for decals. In addition to the decals the F3A has, the FTA has two sets of numbers on the front of the hood. I had to stop on the FTA unit because back when I assembled it I had to glue the windshield and side windows in place due to them breaking. I could not find my masking paint so I had to order it and it should arrive today.

So sorry about the Mrs. Tom, I used to have horrible allergies as a kid! Luckily they've gotten better with old age, lol!

Still gotta' snort some Zyrtec for a couple of weeks when the pollens get floating out there.

I hope they can get her on the right track and she can breath easier soon!(y)

    Nice lookin' F3 too!:D

My weekend went as predicted. Once again, no model railroading. Scanned a whole bunch of BN train orders. Uploaded many to my website. Enjoyed some relaxing music and an audio book during the scanning process, via my Bluetooth headphones. (y)
