    Good mornin, Y'all

We had a great Mother's Day weekend. Celebrated with my Mom, Wife and our Daughter.

I managed to get my friend's NYO&W locos ready for a gloss coat. Decaling this coming up weekend.

For my H12-44 project -- decaling is coming along great. Should finish up next weekend.

Hope Y'all had a great weekend - and, may Y'all have a fantastic week

Managed to get all the side decals done on a 50' RBL and a 1958CF Covered Hopper.

Saturday, went to the club and set up my N&W general freight train, also had a discussion with the president on the proposed rent increase for the club for the next two years.

Also started on a Branchline (Now Atlas) Railway Express Reefer kit, got most of the underbody details done, will start on the roof, side and end details during the coming week.

By the way today is sunny and warm here in Northeast Ohio, Temps will be in the 80's later this week.

Didn't get to spend any time on the layout at all. The weather was great so Lori wanted me to set up the Gazebo and put out the lawn furniture and spend some time outdoors. I got some running in, 7 miles Saturday and 8.5 yesterday, despite the residual effects of Covid making me want to cough and had me restraining my pace a bit. Not that it matters, since I quit running competitively after I turned 65. It's all for health and fitness now. Lori even suggested we play golf yesterday afternoon. We walked nine and pretty much had the course to ourselves. Perfect day for it. There may not be much more done on the layout this spring if the weather stays like this. Hope you all had a great weekend too.

No accomplishments again for me... I'm such a failure.

    to that...

Cool and sunny here. :) Folks getting outside. Me too. I normally visit the model club located at a nearby mall if I can. Right now, the stirrup step former is drying from the hopefully final glue layer. Preliminary testing was positive. (y) I did need to rework one small area. I am keeping my fingers crossed. (y) All have a great week.

I had about an hour and a half free last evening, so I started adding undergrowth and some deadfall in a background wooded area and along the track on my N scale Housatonic RR.

I am finding that small blocks of time are yielding some results.

Most of my time and energy this weekend was spent on a backyard irrigation project plus the usual household chores. I did get the foot bridge kit out of the box and started. Found that one of the hand rail sets had a portion on the lower end missing, maybe that is why I got this kit so cheaply. I can use another type of handrail in that section and explain the miss match to replacement due to original being damaged. Another issue with this bridge I discovered is that I don't think taller rolling stock will clear. May have to come up with a way to raise these stair towers.

Moose managed to get some progress on some dormant projects, thank you cloudy and wet wetter, errr, weather! :)

It took several hours, but Moose built a rather elegant two-tiered roof for the brewery kiln, based on a combination of Bavarian and British prototypes. Still needs painting though. Moose might get that started today...

Nearly done assembling the scratch-built freight depot. Needs some roofs and paint, which Moose hopes to get started today.

See posts in the linky for photos, about 3/4 the way down the page!

Greetings all. Hope mom's an wives all had a great weekend.

Got 2 out of 3 things I wanted to get done.

Saturday: Spent a good part of the day laying out the "EL" portion of the bridge to North Albemarle. Got out the ITLA kit and went through all the parts and instruction booklet. Then laid out enough key parts on the layout. I'll building this on a 26" radius in the center so I'll be cutting the long beams. To do that I have to make a template. So I laid out some packing paper taped down and started arranging the bridge parts and track to mark the cut lines of the beams to match radius. Then late Saturday, I called it quits and decaled the combine car.

Sunday: I taped the template to my work bench and started building beams and putting them together. I went to a big box store and got some Gorilla Clear Glue which is awesome. Easy to work with and dries clear. As I glued parts I put them in a press of thick double-insulated plate glass samples I got from the Architects in our office. Every once in a while they clean out our sample room and I always hoard the thick glass samples. Perfect for weighting down glued sheet goods, beams, etc. Also make an awesome cutting surface for razoring decals or whatever.

This bridge is going to take some time and patience, but it will be worth it. Did not get around to coloring the rubber rock castings. Maybe I'll putz around w/ that over the week.

Laid out track on one of the remaining two modules. But got stuck at that point. An HOn30 chat inspired me to dig out an almost forgotten (0-4-4T steamer) Forney kit. Spent time shopping, locally, for some needed screws. Came away frustrated there. Finally sat down and organized some of my hydroplane racing buttons, ("Seafair Pirates", for you Pacific NW folks. :) ), neatly into a binder and began searching for sale listings of same, to see if I could fill in some gaps....

    Nothing worth mentioning.
#2 Step-Daughter *should* be departing for her home in Minneapolis tommorrow.
That will free the bedroom of #1 Grandson who will get his room back.
That will alllow for access to my trains in the morning when I'm at my best.
That should allow progress in taking down the 66 to 77 percent of the layout.
It will be rebuilt in a promised 'dedicated space that is not a basement or garrage'.

This past week has been spent on other than model rails. I went thru the storage shed a brought what I wish to dispose of to the apartments garage.
I've tried garage/yard sales but there's no interest in this neighborhood and my friends and brothers don't want any of it. So I contacted Habitat for Humanity and offered all to them if they can come and pick it up. For sale in there rehab stores. They've been building a lot of houses around here and today they're trying to get the women involved in actual construction.
Really nice weather here and coming.

Well I did not get much done on the layout this weekend. Between at home respiratory rehab sessions, treadmill walks, visiting nurses and naps I didn't spend much time on the layout.
Today however I've met all of the above commitments, so now I have a few hours free to work on retaining walls.

I got a lot done Saturday-the kids had friends over so I “supervised” while my wife went out shopping. I finished the hotel-I tore it apart a couple of months ago because I was unhappy with the job I did the first time. Repainted, with lights and interiors. I need to redo the ground underneath-it was grass mat, now I need to pave it.

As predicted, not much modeling related got done this weekend. Mother's Day was a success. Mimosas, a walk and mushroom risotto all accomplished. I know, "Where are the pictures?" I may have snuck a little bacon in on the side. I did get to burrow in the storage unit. No squirrel-cage fan, but I found my hole saws which was a plus.

    Stay safe,
