Ummm. Might be better if that seller would do their homework! List of States not shipping/order cancelled due to sales taxes is wrong. From their errant list: Alaska, Delaware and Montana have NO State sales tax..... In fact, there are only five States without a sales tax. Pretty much limited themselves on bidders. (A rather stupid concept....) Anyhow, I'd NOT want to deal with someone who can't even get something so simple done right!

Given that it is eBay, not its sellers who must collect the sales tax from buyers who reside in states that opted to make venue sales taxable, it's obvious that that this particular seller is clueless.

Per eBay's "Taxes and import charges" (i.e., under "eBay sales tax collection") page, the venue currently calculates, collects, and remits sales tax on behalf of sellers for items shipped to customers in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas. California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii. Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

eBay has a tax number for each of the aforementioned states.

As the gross figure of sales and taxes that have been collected on behalf of a seller is reported to the IRS on a 1099-K form (i.e., for Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions) when certain conditions are met (i.e., 200 transactions and $20,000 have been collected on behalf of an individual or business entity), the challenge for business sellers who have been migrated to eBay's compulsory Managed Payments initiative is that any sales tax that has been collected by eBay must be deducted as an expense when preparing an income tax return.

Unlike PayPal, which lists the total amount of sales tax that it has been collected in its annual business statements and saves years of transaction information for later user retrieval, eBay sellers on Managed Payments must download monthly reports, as the information is purged from the site every minty-days.

Me think that it’s beyond this. This person sounds anti government due to his refusal to pay for taxes. What gave it away when he totally refuse to ship to California. Just a thought.

:ROFLMAO:! Kind of weird too because the Buyer pays the sales tax and eBay remits it to the proper place, i.e., it's no bother to the Seller. Looking at the Seller's colorful terms, I think he/she has an axe to grind.

Kato N scale plastic clear jewel case lot 942994 | eBay. Though I am alway seeking JEWEL CASES with original insert it seems every time I search ebay for them there are some people who have them do not grasp the idea that there are those who are seeking them are hopeful that the Original FOAM , PLASTIC Insert .. cradle is with them as they ponder the purchase of them. Just how many of us actually have, keep any sort of foam in the house?

The word "RARE" is used in almost every listing, most of it isn't, some of it is. The seller describes this as an estate collection. If so, I kind of feel bad that much of it including the brass locomotives (which I'll grant are rare) look like they were never unwrapped.

I think I'll go run some trains now...

It's good to see sensible pricing in the listings. There's a Seller who actually wants to sell things.

I used to buy/sell Vintage Commodore Computers on eBay years ago, and always thought that the word "RARE" should be banned from the site. Or at least have a department that would scrutinize these listings before they went live. Got so tired of seeing almost every C64 listed as such when there were over 17 million sold over the years.

What has become rare is the lack of the word rare in a listing.
