I don't. The one decent hobby store I've found does not stock trains. They are strictly R/C stuff.

I'm going back to Tokyo at the end of the month and will look for the hobby stores I missed in the Akihabara district. I'll see what they are offering then, but still don't expect to find any good deals. Kato will also be a stop on my list, but they are full retail as you could expect.

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Thanks for the info.

Seems to me that PayPal is in line with what the big credit card companies charge but they make it "free" access to everyone.

    This is a funny thread...

Now I know where I can share my...."You gotta be kidding me" ebay sale items. Sometimes I just feel like mailing the guy and say that! hahahha.

    Cheers, Bob

That's it!!! I'm emptying the bank, buying out my LHS (I'm almost positive he has a few of these and I'm opening up shop on e-bay. Before you look, I bought a $12 car last night and when I do this, I always check sellers other stuff (shipping savings etc). I see this and I figure the decimals in the wrong place as most stuff was reasonable.... He responds that he sold 2 at this price and others are listing for more. God bless em!

I've seen the California and New York state cars going for 400+ and yes, with bids.
I think they are probably the highest valued collectors item in all of N scale as far as list to MSRP comparison.

I like that car. It would look good weathered with some Fox Valley wheels.

You know,I just read this thread, then went to Ebay to actually look for a few old locos, ang had a chuckle, that was..Chucklehead induced..I'm looking at some vintage stuff, the pics are crappy to begin with,so I go to read the description, instead of info describing the actual condition, running quality, paint, how bad, when, and if the motor bursts into flames or mearly smokes,[or not...]"Chuckles" enters the complete history of Alco and that particular model of prototype loco,as if that's gonna turn me on to the point that I can't resist his POC...Maybe he's delusional enough to think it really IS an RSD15?

I believe NS was at one point so power hungry the new locos were delivered in primer with initials and road number only. Eventually they were painted.

I guess this would be classified custom painted.... :D
