i need to print a new throttle case (sumner print file ) for this other phone i have. i am using a second phone for turn out control testing this out to see if i like it better than just one phone for everything. im still not sure yet but its working ok so far. this maybe too much i dunno yet.
update the power supply to my Arduino setup has been bugging me for a long time well ive changed that to one walwart plug now 12 volts 3 amps and that powers the whole shabang including the DR4018 turn out control (i really love this thang ) it works all my kato turn outs / switches with out a hiccup...so what i did for power was install a very small dc buck converter 10 mm by about 15 mm thing works great....
so now i have it figgered out how to find my layout progress now i can keep up with updates. haven't post cause i can find it..... so recap of current trak plan - the yard area (tail ) this is very expandable when ever i can get more room back.
Just noticed the image above that you posted. Not sure if you know it or not but if you want to have the physical throttle at the bottom you can reverse the screen on the phone. I use a free app called 'Screen Rotation Control' (jubo co). I just put it on a newer phone and it said it might not work but it did. There are other apps like it Just takes a few seconds to use it when the phone starts. I like having the throttle knob at the bottom of the phone mount. For those who don't know, for less than $40 you can have a physical throttle with an Android phone and EngineDriver. There is more info on my site ( HERE ). I'm having a hard time seeing where any of the commercial WiFi throttles have much on EngineDriver and all the different configurations one can have with it and also how you can easily call up any loco on your JMRI DecoderPro roster by name and not have to remember the road number. Sumner
Thanks Sumner . i did not know about the screen rotation app. ill try it out as i would like the knob at the bottom as well. I just love your phone control build. i want to print out one more as i have an extra phone i could use at a later date when i can build a bigger layout.... i also have an extra know thingy too. very hard to beat engine driver. It works very well. and so far the entire system (DCC++EX with Engine driver on an Android phone ) has worked with out any hicups at all now that i have it all dialed in. speaking of dialed in ive got that troublesome SD70ACE working pretty darn good now after i soldered all the copper bits. heres a pic of her sneaking out the tunnel.....
yesterday my grandson wanted to play with trains so we both played. he likes them to go fast like race cars . try to teach a 4 year old about slow moving trains is not working out very well
That right there is what it's all about! He'll figure out the speed thing soon enough; right now he's busy having a ball, playing trains with Grandpa!
worked a bit more on layout . got a trailer park next to water facility almost done . trees planted. got a job trailer and truck done 3d printed. got the food market 3d printed and sorta put where it will go next to ??? building of no name or use yet...ran trains for a few hours. cleaned one one of my engines it got a lil fussy in the gears...i need to reprogram the sd70ace it needs attention again...ive had more problems with this darn rig, But its getting better as i fix them. EDIT.. had to fix pics they were turned side ways...
ive started on garbage service . printed a few dumpsters and a garbage truck. dunno whats next. maybe ill plant some grass an weeds someplace. might work on the power transformers area, need to remember where i put the ballast stones at. (ive misplaced them )
i tried to print phone booths but ive had no luck at all. i think i need a different approach to printing them.
some HO telephone booths on thingyverse. ive manage to resize them but not printing very well. , sense this ive managed to print one booth but for now ive gave up. im gunna have to make my own some time. there pretty small and very thin. the one i did manage to print i had to use a raft . its 10mm x 4 or so mm square. i have no idea how big a telephone booth is. the last pay phone i saw was stuck in the front grill of a police car in the city yard 20 years ago.
Maybe the problem might be is that when they scaled down to N scale the wall thickness ended up too thin? Post a link to him so I can see them. Sumner
Hmmmmmm... "I tried to print some phone booths, But had no luck at all, Gloom, despair, and agony on me!" A little musical interlude to lighten the mood... We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
me running trains today . got done with all lawn mower repairs for every body...so today is me day.. maybe i can get some printing in as well
fixmy throttle controller today got a battery volt meter installed.. im not to sure i like those meters.. number one i ordered 3 wire instead of 2 wire i didnt pay attention to the order form....number 2 there very cheap made i broke one right off the bat. 3 there not very accurate but close enough. any who a while back i had printed the case from sumners build and after some trails ive got it working really well. (had much help Thanks sumner ) as for the layout not a lot been done just running trains and fixing crazy locos. I do love this new throttle though.
Check the back of the meter. On some, there is a TINY potentiometer that you can adjust with a jeweler's screwdriver. This allows to you to adjust the readout to a calibrated source.
Thanks MK . yes thats the first part i broke Ive calibrated it as close as i could with the power supply that i have. problem is with those is when i turned up the juice from 4 volts to 5 volts it said 6 volts but when i turned it back down to 4 volts it was back at 4 volts or a tad higher . there not very accurate at all.. but its close enough for me at this point. how ever if any body knows a very small volt meter that is accurate please let me know.
