The PRR 1953 is my choice of era. There was still plenty of steam around to see and all of those cool first generation diesels. I'm just old enough to remember 53 and spent considerable time viewing the action from my grandparents front porch in Rimerton Pa (which was a mere 30 feet from the two track main). One nice thing about the era and place I model is that I can include pure-dee Santa Fe motive power (no BNSF or "goat boats", neat- looking as they may be), KCS white, Katy "John Deere" engines, the occasional UP six-axle, some SCL, and a Southern high-hood or two. So far, I just have Santa Fe and UP power running with my Frisco goodies. Alas, the F-units are all gone, and the high-hood U25Bs and GP7s are going. On the horizon in 1979 are the GP40-2s. The GP15-1s are here on the secondary & local freights, and except for a stray GP7, all the power is red & white. The QLA, Texas Special, and CTB rule the rails. Rarely we see an Amtrak excursion, and the 1522 is still 10 years away from being restored to service. But in the distance, the sound of thunder from St. Paul can be heard......is it Bad News? (JUST KIDDING, BN fans ) That's the era I model. In the real world back then, it's disco, OPEC, Jimmy Carter, the post-Vietnam, post-Watergate mailaise, the Bicentennial, and double-knit polyester. On the Frisco, it's pulpwood and paper in SE Oklahoma, coal in Kansas, Oklahoma & Arkan- sas, autos in St. Louis, and fast freight to Avard and the Santa Fe. Hello everyone! I model specifically the year 1890, in the Colorado Mountains in the late fall, on a fictional line known as the Colorado and Southwestern. I love steam and the old rolling stock. Since I live in Colorado, the setting was a no brainer. Although I would like to model in HoN3, I can't afford it, so the CSW is a standard gauge line, built as a subsidiary of the Colorado and Midland...one of the few real standard gauge lines to enter the Colorado Mountains. I chose 1890 because at that time many "new" innovations in steam engines were becoming available to railroads, and it was also the height of the gold mining era in Colorado. Hi all. I am curently modeling the N&W of the late 40s early 50s. I like the mix of steam from that era, and can run most anything as long as it isnt a diseasel. I'm looking at late 90's (99 or so) BNSF, so there should be plenty of pumpkins, whitefaces, warbonnets, Heritage IIs and Grinstein green SD70MACs... I say should be cause half the stuff isn't bought or correctly painted yet. I'm trying to convert my P2K GP30s to GP39Ms and Es. Some got the fans redone, etc but haven't hit the paint booth yet.

I model in HO, Metro-North's fleet from when they were created till now. Mostly FL-9's, GP35m's, a B23-7, Two Genesis P32's, and other equipment. Conrail's my mainstay for n-scale equipment though. I model the 80's through the present .
I'm really thinking about the ex high nosers... I might try it on a spare shell and if it turns out good than good if not than no.
Hi, I model Western Pacific in the Mid- Sixties. When I was TEN or so there were three or four different RR's operating in Oroville CA.

At the NEB&W we model the early 1950s, set in Eastern NY/Western VT. Since we are based on the Rutland and D&H, this is kind of the heyday for these roads. Rutland ceased operations in 1961. I am "reviving" this old thread so the newcomers can see it and add their info.
1950's in Milwaukee. Chicago was a hub and there were railroads trying to get around the time delay of routing cars around the Chicago area... There is a lot of prototype information on the interchange in the Milwaukee area; interchanges with the CNW, MILW, SOO [directly] and GTW and PM (or C&O) by ferry.
I model the Golden Years of steam on the N&W, circa mid fifties. I haven't built the Pike yet, but I'm just finishing the designs on my new home I'm building, and plan on cutting the ribbon on my freelance RR, the Norfolk and Way, serving the N&W coal industry. Lots of big steam, some J class passengers, and some small switchers.
1990 to 1995 Soo Line. This is "the begining of the end" time frame for the Soo Line image. I may one day narrow the time down to a single year or even less, but the 5 year range gives me a lot of flexibility - particularly in lease units that ran on the CP/SOO rails in the 90-93 (some real odd balls too!) The 1995 cut off is not flexible. I am a BNSF free zone and a closet CNW fan thus, my HO scale world ends in 1995.
