I've seen a post like this on volkswagen forums and thought it might be fun to start one here. Post up your latest train related purchase. Buildings, scenary, electronics, locos, etc. If you feel like post up where you bought it, how much you paid, and how long you held out before buying. I splurged recently: All ebay items. $11 (for both), $24.99 and $11.95 respectively. Socked away most of my profit from selling my old layout, and used a little bit to spoil myself.
vwwhoretex, I mean vwvortex? I got a lot of some locos, and custom painted cabooses and a few cars. Go through the stuff I got, and figuring what I plan on keeping and what I plan on selling off.
a set of green '78 Impalas (CMW) off ebay IM and FVW 33 and 36 inch wheel sets; Atlas 70 to and 100 to roller bearing trucks with Accumates; Atlas 70 to friction bearing trucks w/Accumates; MT 1025 assembled couplers (3 sets of 2 pair) - woo woo woo
An Atlas Chessie GP40-2 for a steal off the body of vowel water. Should be here on monday, when I will take out its insides (turn it into a dummy) and admire my then immense collection of 8 locos And before that, I took a chance and bought a few AJc.c. boxcars, which can be seen below. I'd never heard of the manufacturer before, but find them very good value for money.
A Kato Cal-Zephyr Burlington Diner $19 ebayyyy, and shortly after that, a set of 4 old ATLAS/RRosi Heavyweight odd-balls, for $22 - will remove the PRR & SF and change to Burlington.
I have the Walther's verision (OL King and Sons) of that Heljan kit that I bought in '89 and recently started working on it. The structure looked woefully small for N and I ended up using the kit as spare parts.
Yep, same SN on the 'tex... VW's are my warm weather hobby I scooped up the NW 50' shown in your pic from AJc.c., as you said figured I'd give them a try. Not a bad model, I heard they got the tooling from another company, not sure which though
That would answer a couple questions I had: like how a small out of nowhere company was producing cheapish, good value models that didn't come in kit form, given that the investment in tooling must be quite expensive. Thanks for that info!
ikey3125 on there, normally trolling on the golf/jetta V forums and spend most of my time on the MkV R32 area
What is your latest purchase Two new Kato SD0-2's for $60.00 each at the Timonium show yesterday as well as a TCS K1D4 decoder for one of them for #32.00. Good prices great running engins.
Six mostly white Atlas beer can tank cars. These will be sent home with Lady Grandure, (my love), so she and her daugters can personalize or "graffitize" them. My intent is to include them in the layout in ways they feel most comfortable. I'll provide a pack of sharp tipped markers and see what happens.
Atlas VO-1000 in NP. FIrst run, but surprisingly decent runner! Maybe I'll get a gen2 chassis under it eventually, but that shell looks mighty fine! Also, paid retail. Supporting my LHS......
I have the same SN there too. Haven't posted in ages since I totalled the MKV GTI years ago. Purchased a set of Wiking N-scale vehicles and Preiser figures from my favorite LHS on Friday. All for less than $30. About to make another sizeable purchase at my favorite online dealer in Maryland soon.
Got a 3 pack of Walthers Rio Grande difco side dump ballast hoppers from EBay. And a set of 3 Atlas GP30/35 from a TrainBoard member a while back. Nothing much otherwise. No room to store stuff! And definitely no place to run!!
