http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATLAS-Train...040628?hash=item282df9d934:g:VNgAAOSwo4pYGrem Maybe this has ben listed before. But yesterday I sent this guy a message about what he has and referred him to spookshow's site. Almost sounds like a salesmen moving junk cars
I know you all are going to jump on this one! It is a screaming deal! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-train...814349?hash=item3614008ccd:g:~y8AAOSwopRYj5YO
Nothing. There are several other cars just like it in the $15 to $25 range at buy it now prices and I bought the same car last week for $11.
"This is one of the most beautiful and clean condition Vintage Trains you will ever find. Orange body, with a dark green cab roof. Piece has vibrant color and great graphic appeal! This is an older DieCast train, which is much rarer and sought after than the new models made of plastic. A great addition to any collector! This would would be beautiful displayed. Very rare and collectable. Please see photos for more details."
"This is one of the most beautiful and clean condition Vintage Trains you will ever find. Orange body, with a dark green cab roof. Piece has vibrant color and great graphic appeal! ... When it comes to old, poorly running engines, graphic appeal and non-prototypical paint jobs are important.
Guess they have raise money to finance the estate, but this is still a bit much for just 2 cars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Gauge-Bri...751361?hash=item3f78361ac1:g:47oAAOSwdGFY0caW
These look to be custom painted Industrial Rail box cars. I know Bev-Bel painted a lot of these back in the day. Which these being the same road number lead me to believe they are just that. If they didn't have the as delivered trucks and rapidos and shipping was included it might justify that price. But not as bad as if it was for one of the schemes they came from Industrial Rail in. I'm not sure how prototypical that scheme is on that style of box car though if it matters. I've a fleet of these I'm replacing the brake wheels and stirrup steps for PC and CR X72's. Which this car does a pretty nice job of standing in for.
They're actually stock Life-Like. I know, because I have an identical one in the original box, right now, and I also bought four others a while back for less than this, so they are definitely not customized or a special run of any sort. Also, pretty sure a die-hard British Columbia Railway modeler would faint at the sight of these. I highly doubt they are actually prototypical, but I do like the look, so I grab the occasional one every once in a while.
Just goes to show you can learn something every day thanks for the info. I've 16 or so of these I'm working on(paint and better stirrup steps, trucks/couplers etc). Like I mentioned it's real close if not a match of the Evans 50' box car that's classed as an X72 on CR and PC. In all my travels to swap meets, train shows, and ebay, I've never seen one in BC paint before. I've only seen them from the factory in BAR, UP, C&O Chessie and GN. I do have about 3-4 that were painted by Bev-Bel but those were in CNJ and WP(they come in a plastic jewel case instead of the cardboard box/plastic insert from Life-Like). As far as being prototypical, I've no info whether BC had these or not but I'd say your correct that they'd faint. It's a good looking paint job on the car. But I doubt any of the schemes on these were correct for that body style. Be worth a little searching someday as I've still half the ones I have yet to have started on.
It's not the price, but the series of photographs which set the Atlas F rather far away. I appears to be a perfectly sound model, but perhaps it would have been better if the photographer had not shot the model from the next county. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-4041-N-Scale-Santa-Fe-F-9-Diesel-Locomotive-Box/292064518697?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20131017132637&meid=49240e03f1b544d7be9de3cdfa2ecaba&pid=100033&rk=5&rkt=8&sd=251166044903
the Atlas N Scale Santa Fe F-9 Diesel from Trainz--they have two warehouses in Georgia, an in-house repair department, over twenty full time employees, and 47747 listings on eBay (3434 are N scale). And, as pointed out, a series of useless photos for this listing.
Not eBay, not even N Scale, but too "good" to pass up. https://www.amazon.com/Nickel-Silve...id=1490790571&sr=8-124&keywords=atlas+code+83 (As a bonus, the image is "borrowed" from another vendor.) But wait, there's more! https://www.amazon.com/Atlas-HO-Sca...id=1490791061&sr=8-130&keywords=atlas+code+83 Wait, wait, stop, you're killing me... https://www.amazon.com/Code-Flex-Tr...id=1490791061&sr=8-141&keywords=atlas+code+83 OK, one more... https://www.amazon.com/Code-Super-F...id=1490791406&sr=8-153&keywords=atlas+code+83 These are four different sellers, however, interestingly, each "is committed to providing each customer with the highest standard of customer service."
Maybe not a typo, but certainly a high degree of entrepreneurial optimism. That car was part of a special run commissioned by the N Scale Collector group back in 2010, when it originally sold for $40. One might presume the seller is hoping to find a collector that doesn't have one, who can't live without it and is willing to pay a hefty premium to make the acquisition.
