So... I post in the swap meet, I'm willing to go a bit over list, for a loco I REALLY Really want. As opposed to just really really want. Anyway, within minutes, it's available on eBay, for twice list. Coincidence is a ummm... thing! But I'm not paying twice retail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Time to quote one of Gibbs' Rules (from the TV Series 'NCIS'): Rule #39: There is no such thing as coincidence.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/huge-lot-n-...317012?hash=item23818c6494:g:4w0AAOSwUKxYkRfm This guy has had this listed for a long time. I sent a message to him tell him this is HO scale maybe 3 weeks ago because I got tired of see it on N scale feebay but he keeps relisting it. maybe one day he will figure out that it would sell on HO scale feebay.
This entry has what might be my most hated (non-)word in auction listings: "minty". #nailsonblackboard http://www.ebay.com/itm/Minty-B-O-C...307235?hash=item3f792377e3:g:lEoAAOSww3tY4P-c
Not N Scale, but a fascinating operational definition of the word "new". http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HO-Spec...753908?hash=item2381c0d5f4:g:gI4AAOSw~CFY5qLX
Yeah, I guess when one of the axles has popped free of the truck, it will move quite freely. It won't run that well, but it will move freely.
Pretty sure Atlas didn't make N-scale sharks... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-N-Sca...833163?hash=item5b35fd8d4b:g:pXMAAOSwuLZY1ZWK
No "belly pan"? The seller has apparently never seen a diesel engine? We usually refer to that area as a fuel tank.....
I believe that the "Atlas" Shark is a V-Line shell over an Atlas/Kato RS3 chassis. If you don't know what a belly pan, I mean, fuel tank, is, you might not be aware of the unit's heritage either. Meanwhile, here is Exhibit B... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kato-N-Scal...0acd854&pid=100623&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=391747833163
The seller had this item listed for $117 until I made him an offer of $92. He apparently decided since somebody was actually interested, that a price adjustment was in order: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kato-176-41...c0d7dbc&pid=100011&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=272580246409 I don't think I've ever wanted a train that much! Oh well, I guess there are still true optimists in this world....
I have 2 of those SP units in my sell soon pile. Need mine are vintage LL models! I'm gonna be rich Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, I think it is undercoated. People used to pay $300+ more for a car with undercoating (I personally liked the "tru-coat" version in Fargo), so he may have nailed the description.
If you were interested in paying $92 for his $117 loco, but charging $306, someone will buy it now for $270. That's easy enough to understand...
Yeah, that thing has now flown off the shelf. During the ensuing season of optimism, another seller listed that exact loco, plus the matching A unit, plus a matching B unit; all with DCC decoders for $300. That listing sold after being posted for a week. As another point of comparison, for $14 more than the seller is asking for a single daylight PA1, a person could buy not one, but two, of the just released GS-4's.
