Yes, it's a beautiful scheme. Broadway Limited did E-6s in it, released in 2018. and so did Life-Like, released in 2000: Note that the Life-Likes come with Rapido couplers. I'm not sure what model E units the prototypes were.
LV called their SWs "Pups". The perfect power for the multitudes of branches served by the LV in eastern PA. Reliable power and well-dispersed, slip-resistant traction on imperfect track.
