I hadn't thought about visiting pawn shops to source more fodder for this, or perhaps a spinoff, thread.

The local "antique malls" would mostly fit the category. Occasionally there is something that is priced within reason, but not usually.

On two trips Down Under, I saw the sum total of a single kangaroo, not counting the ones in Taronga Zoo in Sydney. And that one 'roo was bouncing along the right of way on the train from Sydney to Canberra, and I only saw it for a moment!

There's been an EXPLOSION of 'vintage' Model Motoring Slot-car / R.R. X crossing auctions on fleebay lately with cheaper, "buy it now" in pretty rough shape! AM STILL AWAITING DELIVERY of my N-scale roadbed apparently P.O. tracking shows been misdirected but "out for delivery" today!

    In meantime HO progress S T A L L E D  Tested working slot-car & "steer-wheel" controller against 24v turnout batts yesterday found 16 Model Motoring 1/4 curve track for .99c (y) (plus P.H. of course) so all I need now is a terminal plus 9" straights. 10 for $10?

Hobbyists or greedy resellers? Derive a certain pleasure in driving "you've been outbid" auction prices UP . . .

And it appears to all be the post-1969 classic stuff.

It's one-way paint. You know, kind of like a one-way mirror.

"Buy cheap, hopefully sell dear" isn't that what 'ole fashion retail-ship is all about? The new phrase "throw it on the ebay (wall) and see what picks" (sticks). Been spending a lot of time searching 'buy it now' and watching 'auctions' as HO progress has been slow working in cold garage weather on too many layout projects at once . .

In the interest of 5-yr grandson, who is impatient and just wants to play, been researching/pursuing a quick setup "slot-car" set as the battery-powered one mom bought X-mas prior SUCKS!.
    I have (tested/working):
    • 24v power (solar batts)
    • 3 ModelMotoring "steer/brake" contollers
    • AutoWorld car
    • 16 MM 1/4 radius curves on way (for .99c $10 shipping)
Need straights/terminal track/connectoers etc . . did you know, besides original TJet & AFX chassis, that there's also new TFX/OS3 which . .
See 'specs": different "Motor/Ohms"? (also here in ebay motors)

(ps: have found the trick to "auction bidding" is to swoop in & increase "max bid" in the last few seconds to deter others who  invariably do same. Want to collect different types of chassis to see how run & which bodies match, or not, and am very partial to circa 70s . .

Interesting that the Seller uses a Manufacturer's photo instead of the actual model being sold. Interesting too that the price is $40 more than what it sold for new.

Interesting how the word "bargain" is part of the seller's name.

But it’s “vintage” and thus worth more.
