Well finally a completed project or at least 1/2 of my Earnhardt Sr hauler. I have not worked on the tractor yet as I don't have it as yet. It is like the one pictured in my previous post. The trailer has some newly found "issues", good ole picture reveal, that I may or may not fix so for now it is what it is.

The only paint on the trailer is the silver on bottom & top and the black on the box mounted on head end. All other are decals. The black side is 1 piece decal, the red stripes are 1 piece decals, and the clearance lamps are 1 piece decals. I do not like the white around the lights on the rear end but the red and the clear did not show up on the black. BTW the rear was decaled with black pieces cut off of the sides ends and then the other decals placed on top. After the decals dried for 3-4 days and before I put on the wheels, I airbrushed the trailer with Alclad Aqua Gloss Clear ALC 600 as a sealer.
All comments, criticism, and suggestions are welcome as I have 2 more to do ( Crown Royal and Earnhardt Jr. Bud racing #8).

You have seen part of this before:

Now I just could not wait for my power unit, so I used my Loves' unit just "to see" how it looks, not too shabby if I say so myself:

    Maybe both?

    Gosh, don't know when I'll get back to locomotives ? ? ?

    Be well ! !

Locomotives schmocomotives, keep the fantastic trucks coming!

Also I sure hope the car in that last proto image arrives in a giant velvet bag inside the trailer :ROFLMAO:

Outstanding work, Carl. The hauler looks great.

It looks like the tractor you started with for this project will work for either the Bud or Crown Royal set. The Bud tractor/trailer is very cool but I like the Crown Royal color combo better.

Excellent work. I love the color purple, so I'm looking forward to how your Crown Royal hauler comes out.

    Hemi - Thanks

Do you think the MOPAR grape would be close to what is needed?

With those rear trailer wheels spread apart like that, it sort of begs for a picture of the car to be places there. Looks like a couple of those trailers have something that almost looks like a car is there already. Do any other trailers actually have that?

I've never understood why some trailers wheels are spread like that. Seems like it would make it harder to turn.

Tire dealers there must make a fortune.

That's much different, with WAY more load capacity on five axles plus two more overloads. Different animal.

Why space out just two non-steering axles several feet apart, rather than in close-tandem? What is the advantage over close-tandem axles for the add'l tread wear while turning the trailer? Does the fact that it turns less easily make it track better on a straight highway?

The extra spacing is to distribute the load. The car being the heaviest.

Hmm... At the NASCAR HOF in Charlotte last year, they had such a trailer on display that we could walk through, (I don't recall the axle configuration) but IIRC, all the toolboxes, tools and spare parts for a race were on that same trailer. I do not believe that the car was the heaviest thing on that trailer, especially after all the exhibits about pulling weight out of the car.

BTW, if you're ever in Charlotte, NC, I highly recommend the NASCAR HOF in downtown Charlotte!

Now, if NASCAR would include a few more road courses, and a few less ovals, I would like it much more!

FC7 Plum Crazy (or In Violet) seems to be somewhat close. The problem is the variable light in the images changes what the paint looks like, and can be either a dead-on match or too far to one color or another. In some images, the Crown Royal truck would be a close match, in others, too blue. Realistically, it's your layout, and rule #1 applies! :D Personally, an FC7 Plum Crazy truck would be awesome, as that is one of my all time favorite automotive colors.

Thanks Hemi, I knew you would like the Plum Crazy. I found 2 "purples" in Tru-Color paints, but will have to add a very small drip of white to tone down each to decide which one to use. The orange color on the Crown Royal rig has been matched perfectly with a TCP color. Will not be too long before I start with this project.

Good news - I completed, filed, and received acceptance notice of my 2023 tax return. I'm thrilled, can't you tell?

BEST NEWS - my tractor for my #3 hauler will be here tomorrow so I can complete this rig !

    Be well !

    hello Carl ,

    SD35 - nice work there !

I said my tractor for the Earnhardt hauler would be in today and it is. Here are a couple of images to show what I will be using :
Here is the tractor, very nice print John and I really like the large stacks, thanks :

Here it is dummied up to the trailer, should work out well :

Here is an image of Dale's 2001 Daytona hauler. I'll be close but not exact.

Oh BTW, while I was at it I ordered a day cab tractor to complete my Chevron rig :

The braces for the stacks will come off.

I will start a new, take 3, thread for the tractor.

Thanks for looking and as always all comments/suggestions are welcome.

    Be well !

Me too, but more like the Farmall, Massey-Furgeson, etc. flavor of farm tractors my grandfather, uncle, dad, etc. had. I learned to drive a farm tractor long before I drove a car/truck. Much more forgiving clutch...
