I was posting to see what the opinions are on the best non-brass HO scale 4-8-4 #844 UP locomotive is there out to buy. I am replacing an older (motor in cab) Rivarossi 4-8-4 #844. The motor never worked right and the replacement was not suitable for the locomotive, meaning it went all out when given any power. I am looking for a sound equipped one in DCC but if there is a non sound nonDCC one that is an excellent one then I would like to look into buying that one. Go Athearn Genesis. It'll probably have the MRC sound chip in it, but I'll stand by the reccomendation. And the one in my Big Boy. I'd love to nab 844 when I get monies Otherwise, it's a gorgeous model, and they may do her with tthe new Tsunami board. I don't knwo just yet.
