1) the A&A has decided to pruchase 100 of CSX's retiring B23-7's starting this spring. The units will be repainted to A&A blue/whit band scheme when upon arival to painting facilities. 2) The A&A also announces operating personell(Brickhouse Sub-Division) changes. Andrew Smith, (owner/operator of the French Creek and Southern) and Richard Perry (owner/operator of the Hodgesville, Philippi and Eastern) to primary operations and everything else, positions (lol) 3) also A&A retires remaining GP38RS, after #3721's gears popped out and crews spent hours searching for parts after the locomotive was returning from Dunn's Junction,WV. Did I read that correctly? (100 units) That is certainly a lot of locomotive to keep the paint shop busy I'd love to see photos once done. (I'd also love to have the A&A's operating budget! LOL) Happy Railroading! Russ/NYC The Hoffman Valley Railroad NARA #28
Hey Pat,The operating department of the GVR wants to know if they could borrow a couple hundred thousand from yours to buy some paint for their locos. PS: Has anybody noticed that this is a pure NARA thread so far? <marquee>North American Rail Alliance</marquee>
first of all, no I haven;'t really noticed that catt., 2) sorry catt loaning is a No-No. But Donations to the A&A fund is appreciated!! seriously I'm only planning on having about 5-6 B23-7's, #7703, 7737, 7753, 7788, 7789, & 7793. I have the whole roster of F3's too (not yet repainted) I'll share pictures when CSXT 3102 &3131 is painted to 7703& 7737.
I've used the premise that two other locomotives (Alcos, one S4 and an RS11) are based at Joplin, MO, the east end of the O&NE, which is why you don't see them on the layout. The S4 is number 58, while the RS11 is number 300; both are in the blue & yellow. With Atlas's release of the new RS11, I've gotta approach the financial departments for one of those beauties, to make the 300 real! <marquee>Ship it on the Chat Pile Line</marquee> [ 08 April 2001: Message edited by: friscobob ]
my free-lanced road is a class one, that simply bought stuff abandoned by other roads, or from shortlines. I've aldo got my eye on some C40-8 and C40-8W. one question, does bachmann make a C40-8 (I have a W)????? <marquee>QUALITY at WORK with SAFETY in MIND</marquee>
Yeah,Pat Bachmann makes both the 8-40C and the CW.I have a C painted in the stealth CSX scheme that just seems to run better and better as it gets older. She will run even better this summer after she gets her new heart(KATO C30-7 chassis). <marquee>North American Rail Alliance</marquee>
yea, I have CSX 7664 & 7652 (W's) they ru REALLY well noe that they're 2 years old. I'm planning on getting a few more of those -8's (non W's)
GP38RS #3721 is getting re-rebuoilt by scrapping the long hood and replacing it with a long hood from an RSD-15 (6 axle ALCO engine) but stil retains the EMD type cab an nose. it almost looks like a tunnell motor, I'll show it off when the boddy putty dries and the paint is completed
