Perhaps it's because they varied from angular cab outlines, but I always liked seeing a GP30. Boxcab E50
There's two of these in the Auburn yard, back to back, that do all the switching-both in Cascade green! The only thing that would make them better, is if they were in "Heritage I" paint!
Have they been restencilled? If not, the photo hounds should be out there with clicking cameras! Boxcab E50
Ya', the patches are there, one is a whiteface, and the other, original green with nose stripes. I swing by there after work,(usually after dark so can't get pic's), and watch 'em shuffle car's in the yard. Around mid-night or so, they go out and deliver freight locally, so they hit the main. Sometimes, they go up the lead at the Auburn "Y" with a long cut of cars all the way to East Auburn, so it looks like it's headin' up the Pass! Wish I had a good night camera for pic's!
I was out riding around today and this caught my eye. There is a guy living in this BN caboose. It is on the Mountain Loop Highway in Verlot, WA. No numbers that I could distinguish. Thought I'd post it here for you BN guys. :tb-wink:
Hey, thanks for the pic's, but where the heck is Verlot? I thought i've been everywhere! With that graffiti on there, he must have picked it up right off the tracks and shipped it there.
Hee hee. Not many people have heard of it. It's a speck on the map. The caboose was recently placed there, sometime during this winter.
I guess talkin' with my Dad, the family went up there around 1972 or so. First time I heard about that trip!(too young, I was about 7 years old) My sister lives near Edgecomb, just west of there. I'll have to go get lost next time I go visit her and the kids.:teeth:
the Geep30 reminded me of this guy I shot a while back, switching some local industries in minneapolis. [posted with jasons handy-dandy picasaweb link converter: Picasa Web Album HTML to Forum Code ]
Ok, so I was bored last night, the wife and kids were asleep, and I was wide awake, so I went down to Auburn and saw these same two GP30/GP39m's switching in town again. This time I followed them when they were finished and they headed south, pacing them down East Valley road along the yard, and then all thw way to Sumner and Puyallup. Boy, let me tell ya! That was an awesome sight, pacing them at 30mph, the moon out, and just the siluette of the GP30's in the darkness. It was like the old GN cruising down the valley with a freight. I'll never forget that!!:teeth: It was warm, so I had the windows down, and just hearing the ocasional "click-clack" and the EMD engines whining, et al, PRICELESS!!
It does have the word "equipped." And seeing the sticker also on cab side, you may be correct. Although you'd think those end stickers should be more at eye height. Where folks might be more inclined to notice them! Boxcab E50
