After the 2020 show, I did not expect it would be another three years before I would be able to get back to the Amherst Railroad Hobby Show.

It was great to be back, though I was only able to attend on Saturday, which is not enough time to see everything in the four large buildings at the Eastern States Exposition where the show is held in West Springfield, MA.

Nice to see familiar faces (and clubs and layouts), and the show was very busy while I was there. Mild weather certainly helped.

    Some photos from the show:

Thanks again to the many exhibitors and club members who took the time to talk and answer my questions.

A set of 650 photos from the show is available on my Flickr album:

As always, it was great meeting so many model railroad enthusiasts in person, especially after the past couple of years. Wish I had been able to attend both days, as there is plenty I just wasn't able to get to. Looking forward to 2024.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Yes, the Chester & Becket is one of the stars of the show. In addition to the unusual scale, it stands out for its attention to detail and cohesive scenery.

From the quarry scene at one end:

The layout is also great to see because it is high off the floor, so most details are closer to eye level, and it has extra lighting, which really makes a difference in how the layout looks (giving an almost sunset look). It is absolutely worth seeing in person.
