Columbus has been grumbling quite a bit the last few years as trains frequently stop and block major streets throughout the city, particularly in Worthington (N/NW part of the city).

Nothing posted to online news sites as to the how or why of it yet, but there's been a train that is being reported as disabled that's been sitting across multiple main causeways in - guess where? - Worthington for hours now today.

Happens far too frequently in the same part of town to be coincidence, wonder why that stretch sees so many stopped trains in the middle of a big city like that.

forgot to add that just last year the Ohio Supreme Court had to rule against a law (a LAW!) that Columbus wanted to pass prohibiting stopped trains from blocking crossings.

I get that if a train breaks down - like this one is today, apparently - it's not anything that can be controlled, but most of the time they are just sitting there. Imagine the city is going to go bonkers again after this.

Around here, PTC trouble sometimes causes that kind of thing when the system won't reset. I've even seen PTC randomly dump the air on a safely moving train, which is an alarming event when you're trackside. Also, recently we've had two trains stall on hills because only one locomotive was assigned. One of these trains had to triple the hill.

I guess they failed to take all unforeseen circumstances into consideration.
