    Good Morning -

I recently installed about 12 Atlas Code 83 # 4 turnouts. It seems that at certain spots they loose power, causing the locomotive to stall. If I wiggle the points (which appear to be loose), it will run for a little ways and stall again. I purchased these about 4 years ago, and weathered them, and just now installed them.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a simple fix short of replacing them.

    Thanks

    Ron

May be, it's the same problem I've had with Peco turnouts. I modified these turnouts:

You can see more at my site under "Manual thrown Peco turnouts ". Or at Allan Gartner's Wirring for DCC.

    Happy toooot

I wonder if part of the problem is the weathering? Maybe it is spoiling the conductivity?
Try goiing down the sides of the rails where they move side to side in the turnout with fine emery stuck to thin wood and then give them a spray with a contact cleaner

    Ron,
I have used Atlas turnouts for years, still have some of my old snap switches too, never have had a problem with them. When I wire my track I always put in drops on either side of the turnout, so even if they loss power in the points there is always power on the other side!
