[h=5]Forwarded from Gordon Smith via Yahoo. It is with a heavy heart that I report that one of the greatest men and certainly an icon of the D&H RR, Bernie O'Brien passed away early this morning. Bernie was a wonderful friend. He was always a gentleman and treated everyone with utmost respect. He LOVED running engines, especially steam. Even after his retirement he spent many days at Steamtown running their steam engines. I'll always remember Bernie in full engineers outfit with a cigar clenched in his teeth. Bernie is the last old D&Her to have an engine named for him. GP38-2 7312 is proudly named the B. C. O'Brien. RIP my good friend.
