I recently bought a big boy and realized it doesn't look great pulling my modern intermodal cars around the track, I tried looking up some trains but it's hard to specific cars it pulled. I know the Big boy pulled long manifests across Wyoming but not sure on the cars. Regular box cars? Hoppers? Mixed freights?
Lots of forty foot box cars in single and double doors. Some fifty footers. Ice bunker (steel and wood sheathed) reefers in solid blocks and individually. Blocks of single dome tank cars, and also plenty of singles. Cattle cars at the head end in varying amounts. Hoppers of coal in blocks and singles. Plus other cars such as flat cars, gondolas, ballast cars being transported elsewhere. Try searching through places such as YouTube. They'll likely be concentrating on the loco, but you will catch glimpses of what is being pulled behind.
Not the Big Boy specifically, but the 844 pulled an APL doublestack train sometime in the late '90s or early '00s.
