Another thing I try to do is detail the cabs. Brass castings, painting, home made details.... they all add up. I mean the crew has to have controls to work these steam locomotives. Seeing Johnson bars through the windows and different things in the cab help add to the overall realistic vision.
Might need to get some BDLdecals(dekals) to do a couple of cars for interchange/run thru service. Those cars look great O.C. Like the varying colors of the cars.
Absolutely love it, especially the old ten wheelers and the 4-8-0 as well as the Rivarossi ten wheeler (three of my personal favorites) in both the Casey Jones and BDL trim. Nice work also on the newer power and the rolling stock, too.
Sometimes I‘ve bought locomotives, most of the time basket cases,to fix them up and convert from oil to coal and paint up BDL. In some cases, the rebuilding/cleaning goes better then expected and I decide to leave them the way they are and use as pool power. Here is one of those examples. A basket case, dirty and crusty, when purchased, but rolled out with new life as it originally was ment to be. PFM brass Santa Fe 2-10-4, now a hard working run-through. New Can motor and NWSL metal gear help this beast run silky smooth. Eventually it will get DCC with sound.
Just started another BDL locomotive. Now this one was bought brand new, and adding detailing to it. Decals are still wet but I was liking the look and the Sun is going down lol More to do, but really like this model.
Work has been completed on BDL 2-10-0 #483. Whistle and bell lines added. White stripes. New real coal load in tender. Little more weathering and she’ll be finished
BDL 4-6-2 #1018 has finally gotten white striping and whistle/bell lines. She has been a passenger train only locomotive for the BDL.
BDL 2-8-2 #310, with WP style numbers in honor of Tom Lutrel, long time BDL President who sadly passed away.
BDL 2-8-2 #900 drifts down the main as the sun sets. 87 cars back the conductor watches the train from his caboose.
