Does anyone out there know where I can find Video footage of the C&O? I only know of one title called Vignettes of the C&O. It's a really nice film. Other than that I can only find bits and pieces. It's a shame that this Railroad and it's role in the history of our great nation was all but ignored.
There's one about the 614T 4-8-4 (Video Rails), which I can watch over and over. There was also one about the NKP 765 2-8-4 that was temporarily made to look like C&O 2765, called C&O 2765 - New River Masquerade (Penetrex). Penetrex also has one called " Huntington Steam Celebration" about excursion runs in the early 1990s. More modern videos are CSX-Southern West Virginia Coal. (Penetrex), and CSX's Alleghany Subdivision (GTVP)
Glad you asked.... http://www.train-video.com/coal-csedvd.html http://unix8.sunserver.com/mark1video/-strse-236/C&O-614-SPECIAL-PACKAGE-cln-/Detail.bok http://www.pentrex.com/2765.html http://www.trainvideodepot.com/DVD-Articulateds-in-Appalachia_DVD-AA Also I have a DVD called Chesapeake and Ohio Steam Locos thirde edition. I assume that means there was a first and second. This one has tons of old video of All sorts of C&O steamers including Alleghenys!
I have a DVD (somewhere around here) - Chesapeake and Ohio The George Washington Route in the 1930's & The C&O Road Railer. The first feature is a black and white history of the C&O from the 1930's. The second part is a color film from 1959 about the development of the Road Railer trailers. I picked this up a train show a few years ago. Non-Fiction Video Aviation DVDs, ,
Hi, those are nice films about the C&O. I was a member of the COHS. I rejoined with a membership yesterday. The videos you speak of are all available via the chessie shop. On the everything C&O web group, I posted a link to Clearblock Productions that carry the Vignettes of the C&O. It's a AWESOME video covering the C&O steam in coal country, a bit of the ex Hocking Valley line in Ohio and lots of first and second generation diesels in Columbus, Marion and north to the Toledo Port. I spoke to Todd Miller from Clearblock and they are gathering film for a part2. They also carry some very interesting titles covering other R.R. http://www.clearblockdvd.com/vintage-diesel.html
