Home Depot is selling: " STYRO Industries FP Ultra Lite Brown Foundation Panel" Is this the same as the extruded foam I'm use to? STYRO Industries They have it in: 2 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. Which would be perfect for my purpose. I'm a little wary of the word, 'styro'. Any ideas? Thoughts?
If you want to carve into it I might check the surface out and see if that will hinder doing that... 'panels are pre-coated with an attractive pebble embedded in a polymer modified cementations coating which is bonded to the polystyrene insulation.' Under that it looks to be the same and the description seems to be the same. Are you interested in it because of that surface or another reason? Sumner
I’m not familiar with this brand but I checked their website and it looks like extruded styrofoam with one side finished. If you put the finished side down it looks like it’s the same as the pink or blue stuff.
@gmorider , @Sumner and @country joe Thanks! I will have the handyman pick some up for me and will report back to confirm. The 2'x4' size is exactly what I need for my last two tables.
Turns out my 'local' Home Depot does not carry that stuff so I can't report on it. Oh well. Thanks for your input! ☻
That sounds like some thing I've at Menard's when I lived in Milwaukee area. It was used as inside paneling on concrete or block walls mainly in the basement. The textured plastic coating was on the inside and could be painted. That was back in the '70s & '80s. Yes it was ridged extruded boards but, lost value in the late '80s. So it could be used as interested if you could get it CHEAP.
