Hello: I'm looking for sources of 1950-1960's photos of the Klamath Falls yard, Crescent Lake, and Cascade Summit. I'm especially interested in any structures, buildings, yard plans, etc. I have been to Joel Ashcroft's site and found some but was interested in any other sources that are out there. Thanks in advance.

Reference a book titled The Southern Pacific in Oregon by Tom Dill and Ed Austin, SP engineers, as I recall. Currently out of print, its available at Amazon.com used. 5 copies available right now. You might check with someone you know to see if it has what you need. Its hardcover and not cheap.

An excellent book. A must for the SP fan! Also check out it's sister book, "The Southern Pacific In Oregon Pictorial."

Train Pictures from Southern Pacific's Cascade Route
    http://www.carrtracks.com/spco38.htm

Here's a good site that has several color photos I've never seen about the Oregon California and Eastern Yellow Loco's and everything. They used a lot of steel beam log cars there. I have several photo's of the ones they have on display at the museum a few miles north.

Also there's a book called "Rails in the Shadow of Mt. Shasta" by Mr Signor that I have and there are a number of drawings of some of the yards and station stops around the lake.

As Joe in the above post mentioned the book "Rails in the Shadow of Mt. Shasta" is excellent as are SP in Oregon and the pictorial. Southern Pacific's Colourful Shasta Route from 4ways West also has some good photos. Depending on your time frame if doing a model railroad F units and SD9's were the prime power until the mid 1960's then it was SD40's SD45's and "Tunnel Motors". GE U-boats were very rare as were any Alco's
