Just curious.......How many people "cheat" on your structures? Do you use blank walls (unpainted/undecorated) on the backside (unseen) walls of your buildings ? What other "shortcuts" do you use to save time or materials? I know people that use sheet styrene for unseen walls and then use the original walls to kitbash new buildings. In my downtown area, I'm not painting windows between structures or anything that can't be seen. I'm interested in ideas.
I did somewhat cheat on the backside of my grain elevator. There is no mack to anything that meets the backdrop. Just some supports to hod the roof up in a few places. On other buildings, I have used the back wall and painted them but didn't do anything in the way of details.
The station on my layout is a kitbash of the front and back walls (with the decoration on the angle and two doors joined together for the booth of the station dispatcher - do not know how to translate from italian). Obviously the roof had been completely built from scratch. The back is standard cardboard. The same is for all my other station buildings and village houses on the back side of the modules.
I have done the same thing. Except on some buildings that I love so much that I want to do a 360 just so I can use it later on as part of a new layout.
