Hi, I an inquiring when the UP began painting bridges silver. I am a transitional N scaler and building the UP bridge at Council Bluffs over the Missouri River. I grew-up in Omaha and have been reviewing Lou Schmitz's "Union Pacific Trackside book". I have seen pics of the Council Bluffs bridge in both black (heavily weathered) as well as silver as it stands today. Can anyone tell me if this bridge was black or silver in the late 50s? Thanks! Interesting question. I've realized I'd never paid any attention to such a change. At present, all I can recall seeing were silver. Now you have me wondering, so I hope there'll be an answer!
