Hey guys, I was gong to post this as a reply, but I think this might be better as a post. Does anybody know about the current Fleischmann models? Is the quality anything like it used to be? I have a small teeth puller(and its only an 0-6-0!!!) and I would love to get more. How much plastic are they using now adays. I expect that it is as much as any other, but then again... Thanks
Hi Benny, I have recent Fleishman models, both in HO and N-scale.They don't run so much now as I switched to US modelrailroading some years ago,but I would not let them go, even for a carload of Kato-made US engines. THEY RUN BEAUTIFULLY Don't bother for plastic or metal, Fleishman stay among one of the best European brands and French modelers are often complaining that these guys are not making enough genuine French Style rolling stock and not only "POW" German born engines and cars. With a fleishman model, you cannot make a mistake, every new item is better than the last one.(I don't own any stock from this company ) Hope this helps, Marc
Marc is on the money, our Varney and Mantua used to be almost as fine as the European made engines, theier's are still the finest crafted today. In my opinion.
I have several recent Fleischmann N-scale locos and generally agree with what Marc says.I was a little surprised though to read Marc's comment about "not exchanging his Fleischmann locos for a carload of Kato built U.S.locos" Do Kato supply an inferior product to the U.S. market because the Kato models of European locos are superb and even improve on Fleischmann when it comes to quietness of operation. Please don't regard this as the start of "a war of preferences"........In my opinion Fleischmann are good but so are Kato. Best wishes, John.
Hi fellows, OK Watash and John, lets calm down Since Lafayette, Frenchies and Sammies are friends, aren't they ? I must confess that I let my enthousiasm for Fleishman stuff drive me a bit too far, but you may noticed that I did not mention the size and weight of the carload Actually, I really love US models from Kato, not speaking of Varney, Mantua and other Jurassic (I do beg your pardon Watash) brands I am too young to have known, but since I swithched to US prototype, Fleishman old boiler are some kind of nostalgia for me,like the taste of your preferred cake when you were a little kid (i.e before civil war for W..., I do humbly ask your pardon Watash...2nd) Have a good one, Marc
