EMD's SW-1200 was used by many roads but the Espee units were unique. The SW-1200's were the last switchers purchaced before the 1965 renumbering. They came with distinctly Espee features full side handrails, number boards, MU,extended fuel tank,Espee's light show & roller bearing trucks. The extra lights made the SW-1200's on the SP different.
Just finished modifying an Athearn SW-7 into one of Espee's SW-1200's.
The headlights were changed the top row of louvres removed as well as the handrail brackets on the hood sides. Full handrails were fashioned from .015 steel wire. Numberboards added and a new horn. Kadee couplers were added to the unit in Kadee draft gear. The fuel tank was also modified.
It was a fun project and came out well.

That is a great job, Mr. SP. I like the switchers and I hope to do something similar in N scale. That H0 scale MP15 by Atlas is great and would go well with your model. (I think they would fit in, era wise.)

The MP-15 will fit era wise. The Espee had two different versions of the MP-15 and one had the "Tunnel Motor" cooling system and both rode on Blomberg trucks. Both had the "Light Show" like the SW-1500.
Just saw the Atlas MP-1500 in Espee and it dosent have the SP lights on either end. Some detail parts or maybe an Athearn SW-1500 cab would correct the cab. The hood would need the end of an Athearn SW-1500 grafted into it to correct the lights. Atlas did a fine job on the locomotive but it's too bad they didn't get prototypically correct details for the roads offered.

I have an old Revell like this painted for the Atlantic Coast Line, pretty, and a pullin' machine for its size too. :D

    Revell

The Revell is a NW-2 Phase 2. An excellent body shell cinsidering it was 1957 when it came out. I had one in Espee. The paint job was basically correct. Number was wrong but paint and decals will cure that. Put an Athearn SW-7 chassis under mine when the Revell drive quit.

Mine is still running smoothly, but does have some refinements. Because its heavy, I use it for switching when I am in a hurry to clean cars off the layout, so I can put the dust cover on. :D
