    The fact that its hooked to a Family Lines loco makes me wonder if this isnt right after the CSX merger

    Photo date of 1987 - so more than likely CSX would be retiring this GP9, and decided not to spend any money updating the paint (CSX would have been 1 year old at time of photo).

    I used to get real excited to see something like this go through my hometown of Garrett, Indiana back in the 1970's when I was a kid - wish I would have carried a camera with me more than I did. Amazing that this engine made to 1987 without being repainted.

    That's a great shot. When the C&O Diesel Review was published in 1982, Note 51 covers that series of Geeps. No 6156 shown in the photo was one of the ones not listed as either wrecked, sold to the B&O, leased, or scrapped. So, it was still active in '82.

    While I have no clue, I would "guess" those two units are not far from being scrapped in that picture.
