The other day I was walking through Wal-Mart, and discovered a product labeled as "Oversized Fleece Throw" made by Mainstays. It comes in a roll, is 50" by 70" for less than 4-bucks. I cut it to shape, laid down a thin layer of Elmer's Wood Glue (yellow), and just pressed it in place. The next day it was dry, and I used a wire brush to pull the strands up, and it makes pretty good-looking field grass, and just about the right height, too. It comes in several colors, and I picked MS4809A - Brownstone, which is a light tan to simulate late Summer wild grass. I liked it so much, I went back and got several more rolls for the future.
Would it be possible to post a picture of this item? Am not familiar with it, so curiousity... Boxcab E50
Interestingly, there was an article in last month's Hornby magazine (UK equivalent of Model Railroad mag) that addressed this same thing. The overall effect is a little like a fallow field or overgrown lot. Certainly it caught my attention.
