Should I use flex track on my garden railroad or just the sectional (is that the right word) track? Paul, on your last reply to me about minimum curve radius you said you can purchase curved track up to 20' in diameter. I think my maximum curve will definitely be less than 20'. Should I go for flex or use the already made up stuff?

Carole, the flex track will be more expensive than the sectional one. The straight lenghts in sectional track go up to 5 ft. I would stick to the sectional track, the more that Aristo will release curved track in lots of different diameter.

Of course you can buy rail and plastic sleepers separately and form curves with a rail bender, but I would not recommend this, as it is rather not such a simple task to achieve.

On the minimum curvature I would not go below the 5ft diameter. [IMG]

I have found that using a rail bender is really an easy task. Oh the first time or two can make you feel like you are all thumbs, but many hobby shops will allow you to rent the bender and then you can make any curve you may want or need. I use sectional track as much as I can, but don't stop there when I need to have things just right to please myself.

Give it a try Carole and you will be surprised at how easy rail bending can be.

Carol, I don't use sectional at all because I use Llagas Creek track in code 250. I also use a railbender. Because I am using radio control and battery for track power, I use aluminum rail which is much cheaper, but I don't have to worry about conductivity.
I have always felt sectional track restricted you somewhat in designing and laying your railroad. Just my opinion.
