I am considering using a walk around throttle made by GML Enterprises of Oxford MI. Does anyone have any experience with this throttle and could provide some opinion as to its quality etc. Thanks

Hey John, I'm glad to see you finally made it to the Board! Welcome!

I don't walk around so well anymore, so haven't had experience with walk-a-round throttles, but a lot of others here have. :D

I've had a little experience with both GML's walkaround and tethered throttles. I used one of their tethered throttles to run a display railroad I had in a previous store in Central Oregon, and it help up really well, what with being dropped all the time and infrequent operation.

As for the walkaround, I've used it a few times on a switching layout I've stored in a shed, and it's worked pretty well. I haven't tried the walkaround feature yet. GML's throttles are built to take some abuse, and I can definitely recommend them!

    Hi John,
I had the GML walkaround throttle when I was in N scale in the early 90's. It worked very well. The memory was excellent and it is the next best thing to DCC that I have used. That being said you might want to consider DCC as the cost has come down considerably and you get so much more operating fun for the dollar out of it. Of course I understand that DCC is not for everyone, but if you dont have a 50+ engines to convert I beleive you would be happier with DCC. This again is just my experienced(read been there done that) opinion. [IMG]
