Have the Train Sim. game loaded w/ icon on desk top. Everytime I try to open game, This message puts up & no game: "Train Simulator Requires Hardware Acceleration" Not being a "hacker" don't have a clue what this means. Is this hardward or software? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Andy
One place to look. Right-click on 'My Computer' select 'Properties' from menu select 'Performance' tab select 'Graphics' button ** now check the hardware acceleration slider -> 'FULL" If full already then problem must be with your hardware. ?? ..Eddie
Got into Graphics and it said FULL. Slid arrow over & restarted computer but still comes up w/ same Hardware Acceleration message. So how do I "fix" it?
We have a video card problem. It is either the drivers or the card. Do the following. Right click on My Computer Click Properties Device Manager Click the + in front of Display Adapter Highlite what ever comes up. Mine is Creative CT6971 Click on Properties Click Driver Write down everything that it says and reply to me. We will try a driver update first. It may also be a bad install. Go to the MSTS Links page here on the site and read my notes at the bottom. The only thing I haven't been through is the old hammer on the keyboard or monitor thick .
Also check that you have version 8.0 or higher of 'DIRECTX'. click 'START' 'SETTINGS' 'CONTROL PANEL' Look for 'Directx' icon. If found then Open. Check Direct3D tab if hardware acceleration ON. You can also run the Diagnostics test. If lower then ver. 8 , may have to download and install newer version from Microsoft.com. ..Eddie
Tried downloading DirectX 8.0 but no luck. Looks like a new video card is needed. Heck maybe a whole new computer!
MSTS had this problem about 2 years ago with version 1.0. There is a patch on MSTS's website because many were reporting an error about graphic card issues. The most graphic cards that had the problem was the ATI and the Nvidia (dont know the exact card names) I had the same problem with my old computer and all I did was go to ATI and search for an updated driver. Sure enough, it worked. If you have an older computer the error is most common. If none of this works, contact the vender.
