I think I smoked my new DH121 decoder. I connected the athearn harness for my GP-38, and I tried to program it with my Atlas commander. It wouldn't, so I tried a bunch more times, agusting layyout wires, It finally did, but Only after I connected a light between the comen, and the white wire, and The commander shorted out, I restarted it, and the light was still on, but now It won't shut off, it shorted again, and now it wont do anything. help!!! Do I need to connect any wires besides the motor, and the power? Dave
The wires to the power and the wires to the motor are the only ones you have to use. Did you make sure that you insulated both side's of the motor from the frame/power pickups? If you feel you're decoder while it's connected and it gets incredibly hot then it's fried. Also if you release the factory packaged smoke then thats also bad.
