I would second (or third) the lights for the LL SW9. If the shape was made to include the light transmitting portion that extends into the hood, the rest could be painted and it would work great. I know I need at least 20 of these
Those are on my list of things to produce. I will probably have them in 20 packs just like my beacon lights when I get them made. Since there have been a few people interested in them, I will start on them this afternoon.
Yeah. I have been fiddling with it and just haven't been able to get it right. I can't find any exact measurements and it has all been guesswork but I think I am getting close. I will compare what I have to the pics provided and I will post pics in a day or two. I'm sorry it has taken me so long, but on the smaller things like this I like to work on them when I take breaks from the bigger projects and I have also had a TON of homework lately. My geology professor is OBSESSED with the subject and I guess he expects us to be as well lol.
This nose light package is kind of a tough project. I can't find much on them and the only reference materials I have are pictures and none really show them too well. I know where there are a few old SP Geeps that are usually parked after 6pm so I will see if I can go take a look and see if they have these lights on the nose. I will keep looking, but for now this is what I have: Edit: Please disregard the attachment links. Apparently the new board has a bit of a bug. Try this link for a larger pic: http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x424/WyCoWestern/Shapeways Projects/NoseLights.jpg
It's a good start though the single light is a bit off, I found a couple of pictures of the Pyle gyralight that sp uses
Jerry, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite people! That would indeed be awesome if you would take some measurements! I could then take some measurements off of the nose lights of the UP Geeps they keep parked in LaSalle for the rest and get this puppy made right!
Very nice pics Jerry!! Thank you for the info. This will be very helpful in making this light package. I caught a bug and am feeling like crap right now so I probably won't put too much into this project for a few days but when I get back to it these pics will help greatly!
I got to stop and meet Stony and see their models in person at the NTS yesterday. I've been skeptical of the detail that was possible since I never could judge scale from the photos I've seen. Seeing their models in person, however, has got me SUPER excited about the future of "digital scratchbuilding".
Ah, now that even "Doubting Mark" has been convinced, I'm sure others will take a more serious look at this as well! :tb-biggrin: I'm glad that you got to see some stuff for yourself and I'm super jealous that you got to meet Stony! He is the master of Shapeways and my mentor. He is the guy who taught me about 3d modeling and got me started!
Hi all. I got an email this morning that said an order for N scale beacon lights was cancelled because the item was too small. I'm very sorry for whoever ordered them and I want you to know that I have already been in contact with Shapeways and we are trying to figure out why it was rejected. In the worst case scenario I will probably just have to make the sprue a little thicker. Once again I apologize for this and I hope that I can get the problem fixed very soon.
Well Brian, when you've solved this .... I've a "pry" ( a cry?) for you: nobody make more in N scale "train indicators boards" like what SP (and others) uses on steam locomotive! Can you consider this detail in the future? If "Y" .... I do research Drawings! seriously... I've see one somewhere! Enzo
Sure! I will do absolutely ANYTHING that I can get reference materials for and the more detailed the picture/drawing the better! I will need measurements and some sort of picture and I will be more than happy to give it a shot! My personal email address to send reference materials to is odstalpha12@gmail.com
Received my beacon order today. Received my beacon order today and they look great. Took about 5 weeks from order to delivery. Not bad from Europe. I think we have a winner here! I posted some pics in my profile. I think they look better than Sunrise's as far as size and proportions go. I stained them with a guitar finish stain I use for a nice amber hue. Also gave them a coat of clear gloss. Works for me!
