Greetings fellow train fanatics! What is the beginning for most of you is the end of a great week in my native home but all is not lost. Perhaps more change is on the horizon.

With that said, not much is planned train wise for me this weekend. Starting this morning, Angela, Jared and I will head to Salem NH to see America's Stone Henge. From there we will point the car north and head on up to Andover and Potter Place to let them see what exactly I am modeling. I hear the B&M PS-1 box car is now fully painted in all of it's blue glory, so pictures of course are in order. We'll do some biking on the former Northern main line and take more pictures for my layout. We'll catch a live concert tonight in Concord before we head back to the Land of Lincoln sometime Saturday morning. We hope to be back by early Sunday morning. Then it's back to work and onto round two of airplane shows.

So how about you? What kind of plans do you have in store for your model railroad? Track work, structure work, painting or DCC, whatever your plans are, let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 22nd and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend, stay cool and.

    High Greens!

Only 2 more days of too-hot-to-even-go-outside-to-spray-paint weather, and then Sunday will hopefully give us some relief. I've suspended all painting activities until then. It's even too hot to work in the basement. Instead, I pulled out a Tichy boxcar kit that will be used for moving hides from the packing plant to the tannery. This kit was designed by a sadist. Even things like the brake reservoir are made up of multiple tiny pieces. But, I was very happy with the results from their flatcar kits, so this should be fine. I'll do most of the work in the trainroom in air conditioned comfort, watching the final weekend of the Tour de France.

I had a problem with a proliferation of small white spots on the trainroom TV, which seemed to just get worse as time went on. It's a common problem with these TVs, so I called Samsung and to my great delight and surprise, they immediately offered to send a technician out to my house and fix it for free. So, now I can watch the final stages of the Tour in spotless perfection, or as "spotless" as the Tour de France can be, anyway.

More of an acoomplishment than a plan, but over the past few days I've managed to wire up the frogs to the last 3 Tortoise-controlled turnouts. The short switcher I was having trouble with (4 axles, and one has traction tires) now runs flawlessly on that stretch of track.

Vacation time for me starting later today!

Tomorrow, Saturday, I'm going to Long Sault, just west of Cornwall, Ontario, to a train show there. I think it's the first time they're holding one there, so I'm eager to see what's going on. I like the smaller ones because there are usually more used items and older stuff that's hard to find.

And it's a nice drive on a cooler day than it's been for the past couple of weeks. I'll be going over to Cornwall for lunch, across from a small electric locomotive on display near the tourist information office. I'll take a few photos of that one while I digest my meal.

Tomorrow AM and Sunday AM early, start hanging insulation on the train-room walls. Gotta work in the mornings while its cool.

I have some models I've painted that need decal attention. That will come later in the day when I can't stand the heat in the attic no longer.
