Welcome to the gateway to the weekend, after what seemed like to me, a long week. What about you? I hope you all stayed healthy as well. Do you have your list of projects in front of you? Let's hear them.

Friday: I'll start my weekend a little early a few hours after lunch. I hope to get the shop organized so I can return to work on the layout. Before Amherst, I ran out of blue and white shrink wrap and Amazon did not have the type I used in stock. I may try to con the wife into going to the hardware store tonight and see if I can find this locally.

Saturday: No idea. Being sick for close to two weeks plus being gone really put me behind. The parts I need for the Falcon's carburetor are not here yet so no work on that. I'm working on getting plates for my F150 and until they show up, nothing will get done there as I need to drive it up to my father in laws so we can do our multipoint inspection and order / replace parts as needed. Since Ang and I never go out on Valentines Day, I'll take her out on a date night to a nice traditional and quiet dinner.

Sunday: After some coffee I'll continue working on the N scale layout. One module has been wired up and tested. I just have one more switch machine that will need its power wires installed and I can go on to the second module that makes up the other end of the layout. Hopefully the shrink wrap was found Friday night so I can finish all the wiring, I'm getting anxious to run trains. If I can get all the wiring done and all the switch machines fine-tuned and operating correctly, I can finally start painting and weathering track.

So how about you? What do you have on your list of projects this weekend? Let us know. We'll reassemble on Monday, February 19th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

Greetings from a relatively warm McLean VA.
Zero Plans
Most likely I will, well, maybe not, still, yes, I'll 'putter and paint'.
When that is done perhaps I'll cut the base for the 'Great Divide'

Have fun everyone!

Happy Friday all! @Jim Wiggin yes, it's been a long week and glad you are feeling better.

For Friday, got up this morning and my knee is bothering me enough to hit the Advil right away so, I probably won't get into anything after work, just take it easy. Maybe some coffee and a modeling magazine after dinner.

Saturday will be fairly busy. With Valentines this past week and the wife's birthday coming up in a few days, this is the weekend we usually combine the two for one nice event. I'll probably have a couple of hours to head down to the layout for trains and coffee in the morning. Not sure what project I may tackle, there are plenty. Then we are heading down to have lunch with our son. After that, the wife has a couple of places she wants to go and then it will be time to find a nice spot for dinner.

Sunday should be fairly free so it's going to just see how it goes kind of day.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Friday everyone. Cloudy and chilly here in NC this weekend. Perfect for staying in the train room and/or workshop all weekend. Plans for this weekend are:
• Put in some turnout indicators.
• Work on a few scenery things.
• Hopefully work on some engines that I keep trying to get to but put off.
• Drink some coffee (probably where most of the modeling will happen)
Also have some non-modeling chores. We have a contract on my daughter's home we put on the market last week. Went fast. So, I will probably go there and vacuum. A week of agents coming in and out w/ potential buyers can leave a lot of traffic and mess. Hopefully, this will be the last time I need to clean it up.

Have a great weekend all!!

Agree with Jim Wiggin -sometimes the shortest weeks feel like the longest. I had a very long four day work week this week. Thankfully though, I wasn’t sick, and I have today and Monday off.

Friday-while the kids are in school I will clean up the disaster area that is supposed to be my kitchen and maybe start some laundry. My wife and I will have a day date too because we “punt” Valentines Day to the weekend anytime it falls on a work day. We’ve both been in the Army almost 18 years and between deployments, being stationed at different places, and the demand of work and the kids it just makes sense.

Saturday/Sunday/Monday-much less structured:

Track planning-now that I can see my benchwork-figure out if I want to add a helix. Leaning towards yes to get a staging level. Figure out if I’d rather have a lift out/drop down bridge as planned or run a dog bone.

+Board games and hanging out with my family and a little volunteer work drafting changes to bylaws.

Depending on the overnight snow tonight will determine some of what happens this weekend. If the snow is deep enough it may require shoveling. There are Valentine Day’s decorations that need to be taken down and stored. I have to take a return back to the UPS Store for shipping. It is too big for my car so we will have to take the wife’s car. We need to hit the grocery store at some point over the weekend. When there is nothing else there is always laundry.

I want to continue working on assembling the Ambassador Hotel. I may tune up some rolling stock. I also could continue reorganizing how the rolling stock is stored. I hope I can run some trains.

Good morning everyone,

Today will be a busy day. It is my wife's birthday today and I'll be taking her to lunch at a seafood place across town for her favorite food - Crab. Then in the afternoon I have an appointment with the cardiologist.

I am waiting for a delivery of heat shrink to finish the module wiring I am making for one of the members of our Ntrak Group. I used to be able to buy the stuff locally at several electronics surplus stores, but those days are gone. Tip to @Jim Wiggin - Heatshrink buddy on the big auction site has been a good source for me.

The rest of the weekend in the train room will be a little of this and a little of that. There is a bad connection in the 12 volt DC bus somewhere in the layout that is causing one of the IR receivers for the throttle not to have power among other things. So need to track that down. Now got all my trains together for next weekend's show layout. Modules are ready to go so it's just the toolbox and accessories left to get organized.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Good morning from mostly sunny and cold Northeast Ohio, lake effect snow is expected later today and into tomorrow.

Today, I hope to work on decaling a group of cars I finally got assembled and painted, we have to take the dog over to the vet to check on the teeth that were pulled the week before, then it is off to bowling where I hope we continue with the good success as a team the last few weeks.

Saturday, we have a club meeting day and maybe an operating session, we will see how that goes. Later I will be still decalling some cars along with starting construction on some other ones.

Sunday, along with doing the laundry will be doing more decaling and assembly work. It is sure nice we have no other commitments to take up the weekend like we have for the past few weeks.

Good morning,

Taking some liberties with the timeline here. I put some clear coat on the Mikado drivers during the week and test fit the set to the frame. Here is the finished product, albeit without final weathering which comes later.

I wanted to post an update and can't be sure the next steps will occur on a weekend. If I had to do it all over again, I would consider a different approach. However, I gained valuable experience with drawing software, laser engraving, milling and acrylic paints. That learning has already proven valuable in other ways.

On to the weekend. I don't have a planned schedule. We are continuing to move boxes from one storage unit to another along with normal daily chores. Here are the modeling objectives I hope to tackle.

Complete our registration for the NSE Convention
Update the drawing for the Mikado boiler
Check the drawings for the various domes against the new boiler dimensions and update if necessary
Finish turning the domes

I doubt the stars will align to make all that happen this weekend. I do have aspirations.

Stay safe,

I like early weekends! :) Ahh, the great divide. (y) Decide and tackle. A plan. Rumor is that the H12-44's will be bought by a museum. I hate it when I put things off. Track plans sound interesting. (y) Running trains is my hope as well. ;) Electronics stores are as scarce as baby hen's teeth. It is a decaling whirlwind. :) Mikado wheels and frame looks great. Just a little while ago, I began lines on the module to represent track alignments. The interchange seems to take a lot of room. :cautious: Also, the module needs to be twice as long. Unbelievable! This past week I scanned in two building diagrams to the computer. After that they were relined and cleaned up for laser cutting. (y) Laser cutting should happen soon. I hope all continue to be well and warm. :D

Well, I am thinking as of now (friday evening) that I would like to get some more car liveries done, as well as continuing to set routes and trains in JMRI. if I can, I would really like to get a few trains running and spend some time doing that --In addition I have a big programming project I am working on -- a school management package, and I digital 3d model I am constructing. -- so I suspect it will a busy weekend -- particularly since there are rumors of an auto race on (in) the beach town.

Take care everyone
