Welcome to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are now ready to work on some model railroading projects. Let's get started.

Saturday: I took Wednesday this past week off to drive home to NH and help out with my father's recovery from surgery. He is unable to pick up any heavy objects or do any strenuous work. Since it looks like the grass is getting a bit tall, I may work on the yard for the majority of the day. Any time left over, I hope to check out what CSX has been up too on the old B&M.

Sunday: I'll need to prepare for Angela and her dads arrival next week. He has a 35 foot RV that is holding the bikes and I need to make sure he has a level place to set up camp as well as check electrical requirements. Not sure what I will do after that. I may see about running trains at a friends house. I brought along a few of the new Athearn models such as a GP18 and and a few box cars. I may also go and check out the New England Central and see how it is doing. Whatever tasks that would normally be done by dad however will be done by me as he continues to recover.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 5th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning all. This weekend not much going on at the MRR front. Our daughter's memorial service is tomorrow. As for Sunday, I will probably clean up my workshop and FINALLY unpack the control panel faces. I got a UPS notice they have been shipped with delivery tomorrow. So Sunday I will unpack them and check them out. If UPS makes good on their delivery I'll upload pictures of them Monday. Also we are going out west for a trip we've planned since January. First Yellowstone then the Canyon. So also Sunday my son and also grandsons are coming over to get the "do's and don'ts" speech for house-sitting while we're gone.

    Everyone have an awesome weekend!

Happy Friday all! Worn out from work this week so probably nothing for tonight. Saturday, we have to go across town for an even so that will provide an opportunity to visit the not so local hobby shop. Not looking for anything in particular but do hope to come home with a new project or two :) If I find something good, that will be part of my Sunday along with the regular errand and activities.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

Today, I may get a couple of cars painted and then start decaling, also doing some cleanup in the modeling area.

Saturday, I will be going to the club in the morning and in the afternoon the choir has its dress rehearsal for the concert on Sunday, may get some decaling and modeling done in the evening.

Sunday, doing some laundry and then the choir concert in the afternoon along with dinner with the rest of the choir members.

    Good morning everyone.

Should be a fairly quiet weekend around here. The club member who has been re-working the scenery on one of the old club corners is almost finished and may be dropping the corner off for me to take to Reno. I will work on the scrap yard industry on the layout, specifically building some fencing and some scrap piles. And starting that crane kit that I did not get to last weekend. The other day I made a run to the hobby shop and picked up some static grass so I might start experimenting with the applicator I picked up for $5 at an open house a couple months ago.

May you all have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Will continue gluing my tunnel portals in place, then wiring up one last turnout I added late in the build. Scenery is next, but I'll take some time to think through the details before that phase begins.

I have not been online much this past week and half. We have been dealing with my wife’s health issues. She had to see her allergist and a new doctor, this one a pulmonologist. She has received clearance from both of them to undergo surgery. Now she is trying to get the surgery scheduled before her doctor leaves the practice.

We had a couple of vet appointments for the dog and one of the cats. Nothing serious, just the routine annual visits. The cat who is 16 is now taking monthly injections for her arthritis. Why is that every arthritis drug they develop for humans does not work on humans, but it does for cats and dogs? Just to make things more fun the dog developed diarrhea over the holiday weekend. She is now on a diet of boiled chicken and pumpkin. She is better but not quite there yet.

Tonight, I need to stop at the pharmacy on the way home.

Saturday is the first Delaware County Pride Parade in Media, PA. My son is one of the chief organizers. While my wife and I would love to attend, due to her health issues we won’t be able to. However, I will be on call to help with any last-minute logistical problems that could arise. I have some gardening to do such as removing what is left of the tulip plants and preparing the garden for some new plants. At some point I am hoping to make a grocery store run and a nursery run for plants.

Sunday will be planting those plants or doing the things I wanted to get done on Saturday.

I want to finish the NYO&W FTB unit. I finished decaling it and sealed it during the week. I want to continue changing couplers on Athearn RTR 89-foot flat cars. I then need to decide what to work on next for the layout. I am thinking of building the Ashmore Hotel kit. I could also choice another couple of locomotives to convert to DCC.

Shaping up to be a busy weekend. I am trying to finish stripping the paint off an MRC/Model Power N steam cab roof. The red paint is proving to be tough. Everything else cleaned up easily. Would love to learn what other weekenders prefer for stripping paint. I am using Chameleon. Scalecoat Wash Away and Spic and Span liquid are the other two I have tried. These have been my "go-to" products for a long time. Could be the fact they are all 20+ years old. In any case what are you using?

The objective is to get at least a primer coat on the locomotive so it can cure a couple days before the color coat. Would like to get that done before hitting "The Road to Reno" middle of next week.

Friday: Finish the paint stripping. We are going to tour an open house in the evening followed by dinner with our son. Who knows? Might be the house where I can set up a long-term workshop.

Saturday: Meeting my son to look at suits in the morning. He is the officiant for my daughter's wedding in the fall and needs the proper attire. My wife's first cousin once-removed is celebrating her high school graduation in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mostly unplanned. Hopefully I will get my fill of modeling time. If I get a coat of paint laid down, there is a new goo-gaw to put on the laser that should help with performance. Also want to mount the mini-bandsaw to a board so it can be moved about and clamped to work surfaces. Then there is putting the finishing touches on Reno planning.

    Stay safe,

    Happy Friday All,

I received a pile of Accurail cars and some modernized 40ft RTR Athearn boxcars to extend the WNW roster. I'll be repainting them in "Shocker Yellow" and other test schemes. (With apologies to the RI and BAR...your stuff is going to turn yellow and head to western Kansas). I also had some traded cars come in from @gjslsffan which will be the subject of photos for future photo fun threads. I'll spend Sunday and beyond finishing up presentation material for the South Texas luncheon next Saturday in San Antonio.

    Edit: Forgot Photo

Ahh, the old B&M... (y) Can't do without utility trucks. Yep. The son may need do's and don'ts... Ahh, a new project. ;) Ahh, dinner with the choir members. Keeping fingers crossed on the $5 applicator. :cautious: I often take a long time to think through things myself. Ahh, the Ashmore Hotel... I am wondering, does the chameleon scrub with the Spic and Span or do you put that on the chameleon and scrub with it? (Asking for a friend.) "A pile of cars in 'shocker yellow', I can dig it. :ROFLMAO: I am on here later than usual due to some family business this morning. All side rods are on all locomotives. The drive rods are on the 4-4-0. Half the drive rods are on the 2-8-0's. Need to finish the rods and then on to more stuff. Have a safe, and fun weekend. :D

I removed all of the wiring and I am removing the switches and I plan to have Playa Desnuda fully removed tomorrow. I am close to buying new lumber to start construction...I am considering building a hood above the layout with lighting in it and adding a skirt to help limit dust on the layout

I want to resist the siren call of scanning more train orders, and keep that darned flatbed turned off! I have projects on my modeling workbench, too many. I need to do more than just shuffle them around, or tinker with one. Now, where should I start........? Ooops. There's that first roadblock to progress! Rats.

With only Sunday to go I plan to build the section connecting the helix to the yard frame I built last week. I need to replace the temporary legs, drill wire runs, and add the subroadbed. Then I may begin the corner module that will be where those three modules are standing in the photo. That will be a fun module. Also, before I mount it all I need more backdrop material.
