Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. It looked great to see so much going on last weekend. Everything from painting, impressive track planning, 3D printing and even running some trains. Let's see what we have on the workbench and at layout this weekend.

Saturday: After coffee, Ang and I need to head up to her dad's so we can finish fine tuning the carb on the Falcon as well as address the other mechanical things I want fixed before car show season, which is right around the corner. If we can get the car done, we'll try for an early dinner with Grandma.

Sunday: It is supposed to be wet and cold here, so I'll brew up some coffee and head to the workshop. My goal is to work on the N scale layout and finally get all those feeders soldered to the DCC bus line as well as the power wires of my Tam Valley servo turnout controllers soldered to my DC bus line. That will take most of the day, so I'll be prepared with my podcasts and coffee. If I have time, I'll work on the HO switching layout by drawing out the mainline and diverging routes. The layout is literally a module version of the layout featured in Lance Mindheim's book, How to Build a Switching Layout. The book is essentially a step-by-step process, so I hope to have trains running on that soon. Other than that, who knows, we'll have to see where the weekend goes.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Oh, and one more thing, don't forget to set your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed Saturday night. We don't need any cornfield meets on our layouts on Sunday. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe, be healthy and as always...

High Greens!

Saturday I’ve totally a few errands and chores to run during the day but I should have some time to fiddle with the track plan in the evening. I’m still new to Virginia so I’ve got to look into the what the weather usually looks like here and plan/schedule ahead some larger yard work projects , gardening/landscaping, and getting the boat ready for the water.

Sunday we’re having brunch with some friends. Nothing else plans so plenty of time to catch back up on chores I missed, finish staring at the track plan, or even run out and grab some supplies to finish the fascia.

Jim Wiggin that’s a great book-even though I’m going bigger it gave a lot of info to get started on this, my first real permanent layout. I really appreciate Mr. Mindheim’s contributions to the hobby.

Good morning and happy "Spring Forward" clock weekend! This weekend should be fairly friendly to model railroading in our house, not a lot going on. Will probably tune in to the women's ACC Basketball Tournament and pull for the Wolfpack to bring home their 4th Tourney trophy within 5 or 6 years.

"Potential" modeling items to get my attention this weekend are:
• Air brush session. I have several things being held up due to parts needing some paint. Things I'd rather air brush than try to hand paint.
• Scenery stuff at the layout
• Work on the elevated track at the LCL project and try to finalize a "height" so construction can continue.
• Send off my BLI Mikado to rip out the Paragon and put a new TCS unit in. (I "may" consider a LOKSound, but we'll see)
• Run some trains.
Have a great weekend all and here's to some train time wherever you are.

Happy Friday everyone! My weekend is pretty much a rerun of last weekend.

After work today, I will try and get down to the work bench and pick up where I left off last week on a couple of freight car loads. The weather folk say we are in for a good bit of rain starting mid afternoon today ending around 7am Saturday morning.

Saturday is up early and starting another day trip to TN to finish up a small project there. Probably means the rain won't move out as early as predicted. Not sure I'll get any time to watch any trins while there. If I finish up and get started back at a decent time, I might have a chance to stop by the LHS in Cartersville. That's still a TBD thing.

Sunday, (time change... BOOOOOO!!!!!) should allow some free time where I hope to finish up the in progress freight car loads, install metal wheels on a couple more cars, and attempt another DCC install. If that works, I'll turn that engine loose to run for a bit. If that all goes well and I still have any time left, I have M/T arrowedge kit I'd like to assemble and get the decals started on.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just some sorting and reboxing. Both my large amount of tools (I don't do auto repair anymore) to make room for the layout boxes and empty the bedroom. Then I can start rearranging the platform to build on.
Will have to wait a while to see about retirement income.

Good morning everyone,

The rain is supposed to give us a break over the weekend so if it dries up enough, I'll be getting some yard work done. Saturday a friend from my wife's college days who we have not seen in over 30 years will be visiting.

In the train room I'll be continuing work on some structures for the layout and run some trains. The hookup wire I had on order got here so I plan to extended the DC bus under Carlin with to be able to hook up some lighting features later.

You all enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

Happy Friday!

Not sure what modeling fun I'll have this weekend. If anything, just continued development of the design for my BNSF Temple Sub (links below). I'm not at a point where I can actually start building it yet but I'm having a lot of fun in the design stage.

Also in the process of acquiring my first bit of fleet power for the eventual layout from @Atani. I'm buying eight DCC equipped locos off of him that are BNSF, UP, BN, and ATSF. They'll be stored in a display case I bought until they're ready to be put to work. Pics of those coming soon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hope to make a local hobby shop visit today to restock my inventory of Woodland Scenics Poly Fiber so that I can resume puffball tree production this weekend. With the spring season at our doorstep, I dread the extent of yardwork and home repairs that will soon need attention.

Glad to help you get going @Hoss! They are currently "collecting dust" (in their plastic cases) in my storage and not in active service today since I don't have an N scale layout and I'd like to see them get put to use by someone :)

Yesterday I sorted out my pre-order of the Kato Big Boy and it is supposed to ship out today! This will end up in a display setting with the rest of the excursion set (including extra water tenders and the diesel loco) with possible future use on a mini layout. Later this morning I'll be heading to the post office to ship out a handful of Nexxt Gateways for testing (including FCC testing).

Saturday I'll be assembling a few more Nexxt Throttles for user tests and printing enclosures for them. Testing of the throttles will be conducted in the afternoon.

Sunday, if the weather cooperates, I'll cut the last bits of wood needed for the first two modules of my On30 layout and post some pictures in a build thread. I'd like to get these assembled and at least partially detailed in advance of the NMRA PCR Convention in April so I can show how LCC can be integrated / used.

Rain is supposedly coming today so I may well have a lot of inside time. We will see if it translates into anything.

Hot damn, those are looking fantastic! What did you use for the door on the nose?

I'd planned to get the next coats of paint on the various locomotives and cars in the paint booth, but the weather forecast is looking much too damp. I suppose I'll settle for installing some decoders, and addressing a handful of detail parts I've been putting off working on.

Thank you, so very much.
The doors are from BLMA (Atlas) set #101

Yeah - it's not a good idea to paint when the humidity is too high.

Have a great and productive weekend,
Wolf

For the weekend Saturday looks like it will be a wash with rain most of the day. We will try to run our errands such as the produce store, and grocery store. We need a trip to the UPS for an Amazon return. Sunday is currently an open day although I am sure there will be some housecleaning and laundry.

On the layout there are still a few things that need to be put away. I was thinking of working on the roads around the station area. I could build another structure. I was thinking of doing Walthers Parkview Apartments but then I found a couple of Lundy Studio and City Classic kits. I would like to run some trains.

I saw the surgeon about the hernia on Wednesday. I am scheduled for surgery in mid-April. Since I take Eliquis I have to get a clearance from my cardiologist. That appointment is in two weeks.

Mr. Mindheim is indeed an inspiration. Phase one: chores. Phase two: track plan. :) LCL project sounds cool. (y) Yep. Boo on time change. Hoping for a "biggie" on retirement income. ;) Forward on the hookup. (y) Design is as fun as it is important. :) Puff ball trees yes. Yard work no. Modules coming out. Hoping for a good "translation". :cautious: H12-44's plus operations equals yippee!. "Putting off" used to be my hobby, fyi. Good luck on the doctor clearance. (y)(Laundry, there is always laundry. Update: passenger depot windows, doors and terracotta wainscoting installed. :) Currently working on making terracotta roof tiles. :cautious: This is a somewhat slow process. Have a healthy and dry as possible weekend. :D

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio!

Took my wife to Physical Therapy this morning and the dog to the Vet for some stuff for her ears, then maybe some modeling later in the afternoon before going to bowling tonight.

Saturday, will be the club in the morning followed by whatever needs to be done when I get home, probably a trip to the recycyling center. Hope to finish the R70-20 Reefer and get it ready for painting. Also have to add sill steps to a 40'boxcar that I have assembled, painted and decaled.

Sunday with be the laundry and some house cleaning chores before getting to the modeling plans, still doing some cleanup of the modeling area along with car construction.

Rainy and 40's here in the far Pacific Northwest. Normal actually. Tomorrow is forecast to be the first of four windy days. That is in addition to the rain.

Friday: Spent the morning driving around town looking for boxes. Didn't plan to drive around town, but that is how it worked out. Found enough for my purpose and spent the afternoon sorting and packing up the incomplete projects sharing the workspace with me. Need to stay focused.

Saturday: My son's car is wanting attention, and I will swing by to have a look at it. I promised to check it out while he was busy with some other chores. While tinkering with that I need to drain a water heater at the old house we bought last fall. That should fill the morning. In the afternoon I hope to move all the packed projects, and a bunch of other stuff, into our storage units. If time allows there is some yard work to be done. Sharon and I may catch a soccer game on TV after that.

Sunday: We are starting with a soccer match in the morning followed by eggs and bacon. If all of yesterday's chores have been completed, I will be setting up my old test track. Then rearranging the storage underneath it for the active projects, paint, adhesives, etc. Of course, I will test a couple locos to check it out. Next on the list is putting dimensions on UP 2295's boiler drawing. Perhaps I will even find time to cut some metal on the same project. Our weekend will close out with one more soccer match in the evening.

Stay safe and dry,

Indeed, and since it is focused on prototype operations, it is perfect for my modeling needs. I wish I had this book 30 years ago!
