Welcome to the gateway to the weekend and welcome to March! I'm already looking forward to my annual railfan day on Good Friday just a few weeks away. But what do we have planned for this weekend? Let's find out.

Friday: I have today off as I have a doctor's visit later this afternoon for a routine checkup. After that I'll come home and finish rebuilding my Falcon's carburetor. Later I'm sure the wife and I will enjoy dinner together and rest.

Saturday: I'll need to get moving and make coffee as Ang and I will be taking the recently rebuilt carb to her dad's. The carb will get re-installed and adjusted then the tested. I still have a small list of items I want fixed on the Falcon before we start the body work process and I hope we can tackle all of those this weekend. Once we are done, we'll visit with Grandma and have an early dinner.

Sunday: The forecast says sunny and 70 degrees. Big change from today of light snow and overcast 40. This means I can get some model railroad items done in the garage that have been stalled since November. I may cut and trim the fascia of the N scale shadow box and work on the cutting and painting the HO backdrop. I still have not found an ideal place for the HO layout as this house doesn't have one good wall that is 8-feet long. Maybe this spring we'll get lucky and find a house. With the weather being nice, I'm sure the wife will require my assistance as well, so I'll leave room for that.

So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, March 4th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Friday everyone! Hard to fathom its already March. It’s starting off cool with rain here. What is that old wise tale about March, in like a lion, out like a lamb or something like that. Maybe that means the weather will be really nice by the end of the month.

After work this afternoon, I hope to get down to the workbench and continue working on the aluminum pipe load I’ve been fighting for a couple of weeks now. It’s almost done. Then work more on a new green sewage pipe load I have started.

Saturday is out as I have to go back to TN for some stuff. If lucky, maybe I’ll see a train or two.

Sunday will hopefully be a nice quiet day. Hope to continue and possibly complete the two above mentioned loads. If the pipe load is better than my last ones, I’ll start a second one. I’ll install metal wheels and test run a couple more cars. Then if I feel up to it, I’ll tackle another DCC install. This time a Kato P42. Done one of those before and it was pretty straight forward. Hen kick back and read and relax a little.

Thoughts and prayers with @Tompm and @Pastor John

Hope you all have a great weekend!

    Happy Friday to Y'all!!

    @Tompm and @Pastor John - Prayers for Y'all!!

Well - my friends. Today is the first day of my new life's adventure. I am now officially retired.

So for this weekend: (Which is kind of weird - as I no longer have "weekends")

After having visitors for the last two weekends, I will get back to my H12-44 project.

Saturday: - Heading over to my Friends house to help him get ready for next Saturday's OP's session.

    Y'all have a fantastic weekend!!

So far it's been a very wet day here, but if the weather clears up a little bit I'd like to get outside and cut the remaining wood for the second module of my new layout build. If I get that done then I'd like to assemble the basic frame for both the first and second modules and start the build thread on here. I'm hoping to build these two modules for the PCR Tech Line convention at the end of April, it'll be a bit tight due to other commitments but it shouldn't be too bad.

Alongside those plans are to assemble up to ten of these:
    PXL_20240229_230901190.jpg
Which arrived yesterday. Most of these will go out for user testing but one will be sent off to the FCC test lab meaning the hardware for this one will be finalized.

I also need to assemble four more throttles to send off with these. So my 3D printer will be a bit busy this weekend cranking out enclosures for the above Gateway and Throttles.

Oh and I'm going to also squeeze into the printer a solder fume extractor: https://www.printables.com/model/747194-kirby-fume-extractor-for-120mm-fan-remix

Greetings all and Happy Friday. This weekend will have several family things going so not sure what modeling will get done. Modeling will be contained to this afternoon and Saturday. "Maybe a little late Sunday AM". Tomorrow I am taking my son and daughter out to lunch. Then Sunday afternoon, my son and his wife are taking the Mrs. and me to see the new DUNE movie and then out to dinner. So in the time I will have in the trainroom/workshop, what modeling gets done will "probably" be:
    • Put scenery and ground cover in and around the small stream/ditch I got "carved" out over the last couple of weekends.
    • Maybe a little work on the tobacco barn project.
    • Putz around w/ some wiring I want to straighten up.
Anything beyond that this weekend will be "gravy" for sure. Have a great and peaceful weekend all!!!

Good morning from sunny and cold Northeast Ohio!

Friday, Just got back from taking my wife to PT after her knee surgery, found out that her other knee has been approved for surgery so that will be coming soon. Will get some modeling done building freight cars or whatever, we will also be going to a friends house who had back surgery recently before going bowling tonight.

Satuday, Will be going to the club to run trains, trying to decide what I will take to run. We are also getting the layout ready for the upcoming Regional Convention in Cleveland in May. Hope to get some construction and decaling done later in the evening.

Sunday, Will be doing the laundry and maybe a trip to the recycling center, while doing the laundry will be working on some models.

@Jim Wiggin Preorders placed for the 4600 covered hoppers and a couple of GP7's. Thanks!

Not much planned for me this weekend. I'm hoping to get off work a little early today and if I do I'll probably continue to develop and refine the BNSF Temple Sub layout design I've been working on. And my wife and I may do a little railfanning as we pass through Temple tomorrow to visit family. Aside from that though, probably not much time for trains this weekend.

    Good morning everyone,

@SP-Wolf Congratulations on your retirement. My wife also retired on March 1st and today is celebrating 17 years of retirement.

After a few days of clear and sunny weather where I got out and did some yard maintenance we are now back to more rain. I have been going through a bunch of old Digitrax stuff, repairing some and discarding others. I am also restarting work on the automatic sensing that I was building for a friends staging yard. I've got some hookup wire on order and if it shows up I may get some more of the lighting effects connected on the layout.

Plenty to keep me busy for sure. Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

About time for sunny Sunday! (y) Pipe loads will add interest. Retired is good. You'll have one or two "chore days" then a really big "weekend". :) Yep. Need to get those fumes out. Tobacco barn sounds unique. ;) Laundry and models = multi-tasking. :cautious: Temple sub looks awesome! Lighting is another great enhancement. Well, more rain with cold here. Good thing I model railroad. :sneaky: Last week was "lasering". I think I have all parts for the passenger depot. Many for the Hull house. A learning comes at no extra charge (unless you mess something up.) Progress seems a little slow. Will continue with these projects over the weekend. I am glad we have folks that pray for one another. Have a great weekend. :D

    Thanks for the prayers.

    Congratulations @SP-Wolf on retirement.

The car saga continues. My car is finally at the body shop. I am going to stop by and have a look at on the way home from work. My wife’s car is almost finished. I think she will have it back by midweek next week. My daughter bought a wheel lock for her Kia. The one she got hooks to the bottom of the steering wheel and the brake pedal.

This weekend will involve the normal trips to the pharmacy, produce store, and grocery store. I think a visit to Target will happen as I need some more bins since I am reorganizing the storage of my rolling stock. Then there is also the laundry.

I will continue clearing the extra stuff off the layout, so I can work on the city section. I need to add the Ambassador Hotel and begin laying out the streets. I may upgrade some rolling stock by adding Kadee couplers and metal wheels.

I plan to crank out some more puffball trees. It's raining here too, so steps involving spray glue outside will have to wait, but I can still further the work by applying poly fiber to the toothpicks. I'm blessed to have a local hobby shop where I can buy supplies as the tree project moves along.

I feel so badly for y'all, Tom. Such a mess. I read that some insurers won't write new policies for specific models of new and used Kias, but will retain existing policies. Glad that your daughter bought a Club to help fortify her Kia.

Going to play around a bit more with the track plan before I commit to a helix.

Seems it will rain a bit all weekend, so I think I will plan out the new benchwork. I hope to make a list of needs and have the lumber yard rip the plywood to my dimensions for supports, legs, and cross members. I just don't care to handle the large sheets anymore. That said I will have to handle some for the subroadbed or go spline which I would rather not.
I need four curved turnouts for the far end of my Class tracks, so I may build those. I also need a bunch of #6 and a few #8 straight. I still need to touch up and trim out my existing backdrops which shouldn't be to involved.

I need to start chipping away before I get to old to build this beast.

I was trying so hard to avoid a helix, but I wanted long spread out scenery and switching areas. I did try to reduce my helix and ended up with only 12" track to track, so about 10" from lower track to the underside of the second level. I wish I went one more turn on the helix, but then the time spent in the helix starts getting to long.

I kinda like the track plan. Doubling back on each side of the peninsula sure adds length to the mainline.

If all goes well I might finish my 'practice transfere' caboose.
I might be able to layout 'platforms' for modular scenery.
    We shall see.

Congratulations @SP-Wolf! You can call whatever time period you want the "weekend." I try to stick to the calendar here but am fairly liberal with the definition.

We have returned from our adventure of the past several days. Got two raised beds put together and filled. Managed to do most of it without getting rained on. Spent today catching up with groceries and other errands. Need to attach a new backup drive for my PC. Also need to finish the taxes. So, of course, ignoring all that we will start Saturday with an early soccer match followed by breakfast out with our son. Then I should make some progress on the taxes. Saturday evening is another soccer match.

And that brings us to Sunday. What I would like to do is turn a new boiler version for the Mikado. What I need to do is relieve the office/workspace of all the stuff that has collected in it as a result of moving to new storage units. I cannot get to the lathe unless I clean the space first. We will see what actually happens.

    Stay safe,
