Ah the best we'll laid plans of mice and men! Hopefully your weekend was better than mine. Saturday was spent doing the airplane thing and turned into a less than stellar day. I had bad luck on all fronts and by 3:00 in the afternoon I had enough of models, planes or trains. Rather than spend Sunday alone and work on the T-Trak module, I went ahead and joined both Angela and Jared in Chicago to watch him play Soccer. It turned out to be a good move as my Sunday was a lot better than my Saturday. I learned a long time ago that when things go bad, the worst thing you can do is do more of the same. So for me, nothing other than running trains was done this weekend. How about you? Hopefully you got more done than I. Track work, bench work, DCC, whatever you did, let us know. We'll all come back on Friday the 17th and start an new weekend thread. Until then... High Greens!
Same mice, same men. I'd hoped to get the whole carfloat base assembled and some fascia installed, but I'd really forgotten that I needed to glue everything together, and that takes setting time before I could proceed to the next step. So, I've got most of the parts cut, and some of the fascia installed and clamped, but I'm not taking off the clamps just yet. I put a piece of 1/4 inch plywood under the foam base and glued that down, too. Thanks to Julia Child and Martha Stuart for the fine, heavy books keeping things flat an in place.
I got some cut levers installed one three F7A's and on a pair of GP7's. Darn if I had two more firecracker antennas to install on another pair GP7's, I would have 6 locomotives ready for a base coat of flat black and numbers. Planning to paint 4 or 5 units and perhaps "patch" three others. That would bump the G&OM roster up to 13 units in G&OM paint and numbers (1 SD45, 2 SW9's, 1 SW7, 4 GP7's, 1 GP9, 4 F7A's and 1 F7B) Still need to track down a P2K GP30 shell, 2 P2k GP7/GP9/GP18/GP20 shells and 1 Bachmann GP35 shell to fix some old damaged custom painted units (and shell damage, so no stripping)
I got a few FastTracks turnouts and wyes built for my FreeMoN module that I will be putting together this summer. But, the big accomplishment was the introduction of a BigBoy to the JACALAR
