Another weekend is in the books and so too is the weekend blocks for July, how did you do this weekend?

Much was planned but in the end it was a cleaning weekend. I ran the cleaning train most of Saturday morning and cleaned up the shop/home office in the process. The rest of the weekend was spent getting ready for the work related show I'm going to next weekend. So mainly running trains but there is nothing wrong with that.

So how about you? What projects did you get a large chunk or better yet, done on your layout or module this weekend? Scenery work, DCC, track or structures, let us know! We'll all come back on Friday the 2nd of August and start another weekend. Also as I eluded to above, I'll be away for a work related show, however thanks to me converting to a popular tablet, Trainboard usually isn't too far away. That said, Friday's Weekend Modeling Plans thread might be a bit latter than normal, so just a heads up. Until then...

    High Greens!

Those best laid plans again. My wife remains with her parents in Florida, and my daughter invited me up to Maine for a visit Saturday. Bright and early that morning, she texted me and asked me not to show up until around noontime, because she had partied a bit too hearty the night before. So, I left about a quarter to 11 for what I'd expected to be an easy hour and a half ride. I hit traffic, and it took three and a half hours. So, the planned bike ride did not happen, but we walked around the waterfront of Portland and had a nice dinner at one of the many outdoor restaurants in the area.

Sunday I got back to train projects. I re-painted and mortared the two sets of structure walls for the tannery that I've got assembled. I was having trouble with the mortar, so I changed from a primer to a satin finish paint, and that made all the difference. With the primer, the mortar mix wants to adhere everywhere, which, I suppose, is what primer is supposed to do, while the satin finish causes it to settle in the cracks better.

I've also got a pair of boxcars and a hopper, all kits and all undecorated. So, I sat down at the computer and put together some decals to apply once the kits are assembled.

Installed more insulation in the attic train room. Finished all the knee walls which is right at 400SF of wall insulation. Slowly but surely the room is coming along.

Also worked on some freight cars at the workbench. Decaling a few, adding some details on hoppers, and miscellaneous tune-ups on a few.

I started work on the 44-tonner I bought a week ago, to repaint it for CNR #1. I removed the stock horn and put on a CN type horn on a mount attached to the front exhaust shroud, primed and painted it black and yellow. Now to apply the decals and put the little bugger back together again.

I started a small steam powered pump house to supply water to my recent water tank build. It has a sliding door with grab iron handle and a iron ring to lock it to when closed. The one window has a screen over it in summer and covered in winter. I've added a floor and will install a steam engine from a spare Jordan crane model and a small coal bin with spilled coal on the floor. The roof will be shingled with a smoke stack sticking up from it. I may get to wrap this up tomorrow.
