Don, Tried to access the photos and I'm forbidden. Gasp, groan, I look forward to seeing them. Greg Elems Reno, NV
Nice shots! Question: when BNSF comes down the Bieber line toward the wye, where do they get permission from the UP dispatcher to enter UP trackage? Do they stop on the north leg of the wye, or further back, before they're given the green? Also, how many trains are BNSF running on the Highline to & from Bieber?
The BNSF crews change at Keddie. When headed for Stockton, the crew change is on the old Highline before they enter the bridge. The crew taking the train west will have permision to enter the block that controls the last signal on the bridge before entering UP track. Once off the wye, they will call the BNSF dispatcher to release the TWC block. When coming east, they call the BNSF to get permision and TWC warrens to enter the BNSF track. I expect the east bound stops off the bridge on the BNSF track to trade crews. Greg Elems Reno, NV
Nice photos. Although with Winged Wonders in the photos, I am having a hard time imagining WP......... BoxcabE50
It was a cold and wet day when I took this. Of course being in November, we were lucky there wasn't snow all over the place. If memory serves me correctly, this train was the SND. It was steel headed for Pittsburg CA and would run over the Santa Fe with SN crews from Stockton. Greg Elems [ 12 July 2002, 05:03: Message edited by: Greg Elems ]
Greg- I never got to see many WP units. Just a few that had strayed to the Portland area during a couple of my infrequent visits there. Too many flags are fallen! Nice photo! BoxcabE50
