Just thought of another question. I was planning to use manual throws for my turnouts
and to manually uncouple my cars. Kinda like
a "prototypical" brakeman. Is this possible
    in N scale? Thanks!

Richard,it depends on what couplers your using. If you are using micro-trains or one of the clones there of RIX makes an uncoupling tool for just such a purpose. It is inserted in the couplers and twisted to disengage the knuckles.

Yep, a little easier with MTs, since you can use the same kind of tool used in HO scale. The Rapidos tend to grab more (and aren't mgentic), so are a little harder to get apart. I use hand magnets where I don't have ramps, just wave them near the couplers and the pins release.

Richard, you can use Cabbose Industries (?) ground throws for the switches which work quite well, though unprototypically large.
As for uncoupling, if using MTL couplers try the RIX pick that Harron suggested, or use a small BBQ skewer or jewellers screwdriver. Takes a little getting used to with any of the above methods but once mastered it's easy. Of course, with MTL couplers you can use strategically placed magnets to operate the delayed action feature of MTL's.
With other brands of N couplers you will need to utilise your 0-5-0 switcher (hand). [IMG]
