Does anyone know what these kits are made of? And what about painting? Are these kits painted and if not, what are some reccomend ways of painting them. Also, in the Walthers catalog they say they are intended with modelers with experience. How much experience are they talking about? Thanks all

ME kits are injection molded in plastic, but most include a few cast metal detail parts like vents. As they come unpainted and the molded color they come in doesnt look so hot, I suggest painting it either with a spray can or airbrush, as brush painting doesnt on these doesnt look so good. The kits are very easy to build, the only complicated one is the Poor Boys Mine, and the rest are pieces you just glue into a box. However, the challenging part in the kits is that you have to cut and sand away the plastic for doors, which is aided from the kit because on the interior they have a molded in line to help guide your saw. Not tough though. Most of them go for 10 bucks, so pick one up like Transfer Trucking Terminal. Now if you were talking about the bridges, those are tough to build, correctly. A very good fit is required if your hoping the bridge to come out level and square, and the same goes for the deck griders. These require patience, but really all thats needed are some regular tools and basic modeling skills. Mike
