That's interesting; Dawn (unscented?) is often used for degreasing birds and animals rescued from oil spills.

I wonder if Dawn actually works best (which may be a combination of multiple attributes for use on live animals), or it is just that Proctor & Gamble donates it for the goodwill advertising and tax write-off. Perhaps a little of both.

    Here's a few more...

2nd EDIT: Moose figure out why photos were not showing in post - too big, reduced to ~ 400 kb or less seems to work...

    I do that.......

Awww, come on, Moose! They look good, especially the Westport shipping one. Also echoing others above, simple wash/rinse with Dawn dish washing liquid. If any streaks of grease remain, a Q-tip dipped in full strength Dawn, followed by rise with plain water, should take care of things.

Moose I use whatever brand of dish detergent the Missus has next to the sink with the soft toothbrush.

Dawn is my preference from past experiences. Un-scented is a definite plus, as some brands do leave a residue from the scent. Smell your hands 1/2 hour after washing with the dishsoap to know if it leaves a residue.

Moose muttering could be entertaining if the Moose is unaware of the audience!

The cars all look great, don't be so hard on your self!

Especially that caboose and passenger car! Waiting for an entire string of those!

Thanks everyone for your replies and kind words. :)

Hmmm, Mrs Moose uses Dawn Ultra, which be the one with the wee ducky on the label. It says scented as an allergen ingredient, or some such thing. The air compressor seems to be in need of tossing, so it might be some time before this moose can do any more airbrushing. Will have to try some unscented Dawn...

There are some issues that are not apparent in the photos, including making the rookie mistake of applying decals on flat primer (moose brain like steel sieve, can't remember the simplest thing like apply gloss clear coat first!), and over use of Micro Sol (wrinkly decals are not pleasant to look at!)...

In the mean while, the remaining four passenger cars have been delivered from the Moose Works shop:

And one of these days, Moose is going to attempt to convert the motive power for the Vancouver & Victoria Railway from its current open-cab configuration to the requisite all-weather cab configuration, as shown below:

I am loving seeing all the road names based around the Olympic Peninsula and vicinity. My favorite area on this planet. Family ties and so many memories of there, from my earlier years.
