I think it would be interesting to know which train video tape you find excellent. This for reasons of content-, image- and sound quality. Personally I like "Hot rails through the Twin Cities" of Pentrex. Not to much narration, lot of diversity and the sound of those diesels is just fantastic!! ------------------ Paul Van Herwegen Rappannahock Terminal Railway
My two favourite tapes are both by Highball Productions. Highball over Tehachapi and Highball over Cajon. Also my two favourite places - I love trains in the mountains, much more time to study them as they are going very slowly I buy all the tapes I can find of these locations, but also enjoy two tapes on Tennessee Pass, at the end of operations. Heck, I like most tapes of US Railroading ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
I dont buy a lot of videos but of the ones I do have "Ozark Country Cab Ride" from Pentrex is one of my favorites. It is a cab ride from St. Louis to Springfield, MO. on the ex Frisco. We vacation frequently in Arkansas and travel along this line so it was entertaining "riding" through areas I have seen so often from my car. I like 60's & 70's railroading so any videos from that era get my attention although the sound dubbing can be very disappointing. Ever here a turbocharged E-7?
That would be right up my alley AFN! I have not seen that. Has anyone seen anything available on DVD yet? That would be something neat if available. ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO! | IAMOKA.com
CSX's M&K sub-division from Point-of-Rocks, Maryland to grafton,WV. I forget what company produces it. Nothing like 6 or 8 diesel engines struggling up a mountain on a cold, snowy evening with a few thousand tons of west Virginia's finest black gold. ------------------ Appalachian & Atlantic Model Railroad "QUALITY at WORK with SAFTEY in MIND"
Got to have steam to have a real video. "Runnin' That New River Train" done by Rich Melvin's Hopewell Video Productions is an in-the-cab engineer's assessment of running the NKP 765 through the New River Gorge under various track and weather conditions. Great Tape!
My favorites are: Workin' on the Railroad, by Pentrex The Pokey, by Pentrex Steam to Huntington, by Pentrex Fight for Donner Pass, by Video Rails now available through Pentrex. ------------------ A.J. y6b N&W and Conrail Fan http://communities.msn.com/TheGRRModelRR
Charlie, I believe that Pentrex has released a DVD "Goin' to Kansas City" I also like very much the cheap "A train watcher's diary" videos. Especially the ones made by Tim Hosey about Conrail and CSX. Continuous action, great sound and practically no talking. Paul ------------------ Paul Van Herwegen Rappannahock Terminal Railway
My favourite is The Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The scenery is fantastic and it is amazing to see what the Swiss engineers did to create railroads like this. Very entertaining. For steam, My choice is The Complete Nickel Berkshire along with Nickel Plate Odyssey. An example of a well organised railroad until it was sold. Fast freight and glorious Berkshires. ------------------ Robin Maberly and Tayside
