The Roundhouse and all areas of the B&O Railroad Museum weathered very well
during Isabel. No damage to report. Mother Nature must have felt we (the
    museum) had enough in February.

    Yes, we (the gift
shop manager and myself) will be at the Timonium Fairgrounds Train Show on
October 11th & 12th. We ask if the donor wishes to have a receipt. A
sign is always displayed asking that donors who wish for a receipt to
ask. Those who do get a receipt also receives an acknowledgement letter
from Courtney Wilson, our executive director. Please pass along to
    everyone that if a
tax deductible receipt is needed to always ask. Thanks so much!

    See you in October.
    Dana

    John-

    It's good to read this.

I was wondering- Do you know what, or how, they are going about making certain the rest of the roof is strong enough to withstand any other problems? I seem to recall that they had surveyed what still stood. But what will they do to prevent any future calamities? And still maintain the historical appearance?

Boxcab (Ken?) I'm so sorry I can never seem to keep your first name! But as for your question, I have no clue! I'm as much in the dark on that question as you are! I would HOPE they redo the whole roof, as close as very possible to the original thing, just make it 100 times stronger (Thats a large roof area an round!).

I would imagine the designing of steel trusses to fit the purpose of the entire roof with a close to original look as their are alot of different materials that can be used an that are on the market for restoration.

I will ask around an see what I'm told on their thouhgts of this an such, as it interests me as well as alot of others....

    John-

    Yes. That's me......... [IMG]

I'd like to know what they plan on doing to make the structure solid, yet retain the historical appearance. So, if you learn what intentions are, please post.
