I've been wanting a new locomotive and caboose, and to ditch Bachmann for quite a while. I found these this Tyco Spirit of '76 locomotive and caboose for $15 shipped, which was the best deal I could find. They're untested, as the seller isn't too experienced in trains. They're boxed in a Cox and Life-Like boxes, but I'm sure they're NOT original. As soon s they show up, I'll test them. Still, if they don't work they'll display well. Here's the pic of the two I bought
Saw those and knew they weren't Tyco. From the day, I seem to recall Tyco generally used the oddball stylized caboose. Looked it up, not Tyco. Life-Like. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFE-LIKE-T...949492?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2ecafb1a34 http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Life-Lik...579720?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2edab1c7c8 Probably better overall than Tyco.
Much better than TYCo. Maybe for your next purchase we can nudge you toward something such as Athearn, Atlas, or even Kato? A bit more money, yes. But you'd really love the quality.
And you can get some quality used or even new old stock Athearn for not much more than what you're spending on the Life-Like.
